Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

I read many books all at once because I can only stick to one for a day or so until I need to read something else. I am not reading very many right now:

Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchet
The White Dragon by Anne McCaffrey
Cujo by Stephen King
Warlord of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs
Elsewhere in the Land of Parrots by Jim Paul
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen by Alan Moore and some othe guy
Shadowplay, which I will probably finish today
The Illiad
Also an anthology of short stories by DAW.

The following statement is true.
The previous statement is false.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

I finally got around to reading the killing circle by Andrew Piper, a few of my teachers gave me weird looks about that; is there something about this book that they know that I don't?

Just finished Joe Abercrombie's excellent Best Served Cold. It's the perfect mix of black humor and violence, and a nice tale of revenge to boot!

Check out the blog for the full review. . . :)

Just finished The Paradise War by Lawhead... very good. Gonna start The Silver Hand next. My hopes are high.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

I finished Fall of Thanes by Brian Ruckley. I enjoyed the Godless World trilogy. It was refreshing not to have elves and romance. If I were Neil Gaiman and prone to assigning genders to books, this trilogy would be a boy book all the way. But I like boy books just as much as I like girl books.

Next up is Mean Streets, containing novellas by Jim Butcher, Simon R. Green, Kat Richardson, and Thomas E. Sniegoski.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

I finished Mean Streets. Good book. I know Butcher and Green (although I hadn't read any of his Nightside stuff before), but I did not know Richardson and Sniegoski. Once I have a job again, I need to hunt down some of their stuff to read.

Up next is The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

Wow, you seem to have a lot of reading time!

As of tomorrow I can finally pick up a book again. My TBR pile consists of the entire Harry Potter series (reread), The Neverending Story in German, and Midnight Tides by Erikson. I'm hesitant about the last book, as it is book five in a series that I haven't read yet. Not sure if it'll be good reading without having read the first four.

I was laid off almost two months ago and I still haven't found a new job so reading time is all I have. And playing on computer time. And watching movies time. And being bored out of my mind time...

Oh dear! I do hope you also set aside some 'finding a new job'-time. Good luck on the hunt!

im actually reading eriksons entire series at the moment and i kinda did the same as you did by starting halfway through (only i started at book 8 :S) its one of the best stories i have ever read and it just keeps impressing me again and again im currently at the bonehunters which is book 6 but to you and anyone else thinking of reading eriksons work i think you absolutely MUST start at the begining :) dont make my mistake.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

Thanks for the tip. :) Guess I'll just have to wait until my brother finished book 1 (he owns it).

I've just started my reread of HP.

I've finished Turn Coat by Jim Butcher and The Curse of the Holy Pail and Thugs and Kisses, both by Sue Ann Jaffarian. Next up is The Return of the Dancing Master by Henning Mankell.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

Finished the Endless Knot... all in all, a very good trilogy. Not sure what I'm reading next yet... hopefully when I go to work today I will find that we have received The Dragons of Ordinary Farm. If not I'll have to read something else till we get it in.

Started The Jackal of Nar by John Marco. It is entirely too good for a first novel. Very good stuff.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

Am reading a bunch of foresics and virus books, and getting weird looks. Our English class just finished the Crucible, thank god, we had to take turns reading the parts of different characters; I have never heard so many monotones before.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

I just finished Mistborn-Hero of Ages and i sobbed like i was 4 years old and some evil person has taken away my favorite toy. So good, though. YOU ALL GOTTA READ THIS SERIES!!!!!

Now, i don't really know what to read next. There is at least one unfinished book lying around, but many new books as well.
*sighs*

I'll probably start Fall of Thanes, though, as it's another long-awaited last part. I find it rather satisfying and exciting to just start on a last book of a series

Just finished Jonathan Maberry's thought-provoking and balls-to-the-wall Patient Zero. Quite an entertaining read, and I'm not usually into zombies.

Check the blog for the full review. :)
