A little slower on the proofs today but still about halfway done. A bunch more stuff happened. Some people died. Some other people turned out to be some other stuff. And like that. Busy, busy story.

I can’t run away. I have to fight to the death. Because both of my feet are connected to a little plastic stand. Isn’t that just typical...?

About a third of the way through the proofs. Stuff is happening. Man, there are a bunch of things going on in this book. I’d kind of forgotten in the last few weeks.

Lots to do today. SHADOWHEART proofs are in and I’m editing. I don’t want to give away too much, but Hermione ends up with Ron.

Had an excellent family get-together. Even got to play a very small amount of music with my brothers — wish it could have been more.

The whole mammal-clan-groupthink thing is very soothing. I’m lucky enough to have an extended family I really like, and with whom I see eye-to-eye on all the important things. Lets my psyche relax a little.

My faithless children did not believe he existed. But he does! The greatest superhero ever!

You never know when you might meet your next BFF. So be ready...

Today is a Plotting Day. Lots of fun. Almost completely indistinguishable from a Napping Day or a Do Nothing Day, except to the trained eye.

Just got this email from Russia: “Hello. You the attractive man! I want to say about me some. I am pleasant, kind, beautiful girl. I am think that we can detect the general interests. I am like sports, a beach. I’m like to cook. I hope you will like my food.”

I think it is spamsky, nyet?

I intend to be a real musician shortly before I die. I hope it’s that soon, anyway.

Girl was so revved up for the first day of fifth grade that she hardly slept at all last night. The day was still a crashing success as far as she was concerned, but she started out the evening like a snappish terrier. After the snaps metamorphosed into a few tears and some release of frustration, she was back to her regular shiny.

I’m tired of your complaining, Grandma — lots of people have arthritis. Those paving stones aren’t going to stack themselves. Plus the weight room’s a mess.
