Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

So now there are five write-ins as well.

And one of them is a book that is not even published yet ...

How is that even allowed?

If people choose to vote for a book they do not know yet, they're obviously free to do so. It has more than a thousand ratings with an average of 4.5 although it will only be published next week.

Re: The Witchwood Crown: Nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award

Tor.com has been serializing Oathbringer for free online to promote the upcoming release of the physical book, so the people voting have likely already read most of it.

You can read it at https://www.tor.com/series/oathbringer/

Has everyone now voted?

The "to read" additions have been huge, with 2,306 people adding The Witchwood Crown to their to-read lists over the past 11 days. The semi-finals run for another three days.

Oh, sure, but it's the biggest spike in the book's history; much bigger than the publication week. And it's also caused a small spike in to-reads for The Dragonbone Chair and The Heart of What Was Lost.

Jajaja, every time I could. :)

Does anyone know whether the votes are adding up or every round starts a fresh count?

No idea, but I would hope so... otherwise, the first round is completely useless: nothing is eliminated, and five more books are added at the next round.

Re: The Witchwood Crown: Nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award

The final round of voting has begun, but The Witchwood Crown did not make the cut. Still, it was an honor to be nominated.

Yes…it was an honor to be nominated.

By the way, Tad is also in the running for the Lovelybooks Leserpreis, which is kind of the German equivalent of the Goodreads Award.

Re: The Witchwood Crown: Nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award

If I cannot vote for Tad, I have voted for Robin Hobb instead, though I think that Rowling will win with Gaiman and Sanderson battling for #2 and #3. Hobb may come in at #4….
