Bahahaha!
Took me a moment to remember what you were talking about, but then I laughed loud enough that my neighbours are probably wondering what's so funny!

Everything is a mess here. Trying to clean and water all my plants and such, and it's just making more and more of a mess... I don't think I'll get a lot of sleep tonight!

Well... apparently my company got it's money! I don't know any details about it, and that's ok with me. As long as we get it, use it to pay off our vendors, and then can turn around and make decent payments on it and have it gone in less than a year, then I think we'll be ok. We'll see...
In other news, I feel like I've been oddly hungry lately. Not sure why. Solution: drink more water!
Gotta write out thank you cards tonight... ooof... want to kill orcs instead... Just bought Orcs Must Die! 2, it's a tower defense type game, it's not bad, but I don't really play tower defense games so I'm not a good judge, lol. I'm terrible at strategy. But my fiancee and I play, and as long as he tells me where to put traps, I'm good :P

Re: QM - Splash!
Welp that plan failed miserably. Killed lots of orcs. Zero thank you cards written. :P Gotta play some by myself and try REALLY REALLY hard to strategize and think logically.
This weekend should be fairly quiet. Fiancee has to work on Saturday so I'll be all alone in the HEAT. Maybe I'll hunker down with TDSOH for a re-read. I know I should do some laundry, and probably vacuum. Other than that, not much goin' on...

Re: QM - Splash!
We had a great weekend. We had some (fierce) rain, but mostly there was sunshine. And quite a lot of it too. There was good music, looking at pretty shinies (i.e. jewelry and costumes), dancing, eating, eating some more, playing games in the evening and lots of walking as the festival grounds were almost twice as large as last year.

Re: QM - Splash!
And I'm home again. The trip back went pretty well, no noisy drunk guys this time, only the train from Amsterdam ended a little early, because the AC wasn't working. Luckily, the train I was supposed to change to in Düsseldorf stopped in Duisburg as well, so I didn't have the whole hassle of trying to figure out how I was supposed to get where I was supposed to go, and getting my reservation changed (since the tickets I had were only valid for those particular trains).

Re: QM - Splash!
Finally all done with unpacking and putting stuff away and a bit of cleaning (the plants have been making a mess again), and as done with laundry as I can be - there's only so much of the handwash stuff that I can do at a time, because I need to hang it in the bathtub to dry (at least until it stops dripping), and right now I'm waiting for the washing machine to finish one load so I can put in the next one (probably the cloak).
And I discovered that the drawer that has my beads and silk paint in it hasn't been opened in so long that it is now completely stuck, and if I want to get at the contents, I have to pull out the drawer above it. While lying on the floor, under the dining room bench (it's either that or move the bench, table and chairs out of the way).

Re: QM - Splash!
Glad you guys had a good time at the festival! Weekend adventures with friends are the best :)
My weekend was alright.. Saturday was HOT so I stayed inside a lot. Powered through ~250 pages of GoT. I'm definitely enjoying the story + the complexity. Question for all of those who have read the series... So it's obviously mainly Starks vs. Targaryans (sp?) but is there a "good" and "evil" side? Like in Smarch, the overarching conflict seemed to be Eddons vs. Autarch Sulepis (though not apparent in the beginning) and the Autarch was definitely an evil character. Right now I'm about 450 pages into the first book, and there has been more talk of the Starks than the Targaryans, so it seems as though the Starks are "good", but it could become another Southmarch vs. Qar, where the Qar aren't REALLY evil, just misunderstood. Obviously I don't want to know big plot details, but a hint to whether or not there is a good vs. evil theme would be appreciated ^.^ Sunday was a bit cooler, it actually STORMED! With RAIN! (haven't had much this summer, lol) Smoked some hookah with the fiancee, mostly just chilled.
Yesterday was fun >.< Didn't get to sleep until 11pm Sunday, was woken up at 130-2am by a blood-curdling scream from our lovely neighbor, no clue why, got up again at 4:30am for the gym, arrived at 5am to find the gym not open because the manager with keys overslept, hung out for 10-15 min, jumped ship and went back home for 2 more rounds of coals on the hookah before getting ready for work. And then my boss said "I need help putting invoices in Quickbooks!" (our accounting system, and this is VERY mindless zombie-esque work) so then I was totally cross-eyed by the end of the day, due to lack of sleep and very boring work...

I just finished the second book last night (a definite upside to these long train rides, lots and lots of time to read!), and so far, no-one's actually evil. Various degrees of unpleasant, yes, but not really evil. One downside to reading on the train, though: stupid other people. There were these extremely noisy drunk guys sitting in front of me for the last two or three hours on the way to Amsterdam, and then one of them noticed what I was reading, and started to talk to me about it, and I really don't like talking to drunk people, especially drunk strangers. I kept raising my book higher and higher and trying to ignore him while he was practically crawling onto my seat asking me which chapter I was reading. Then again, it was a good distraction, because apparently they were having a bachelor party, and from what I watched through the gap in the seats, they were trying to get the groom-to-be to kiss as many girls as possible, and filming it. Which was why they approached me in the first place. Well, I'd rather have someone babbling at me about a book than trying to escape kissing some stranger.
Anyway, I made a quick trip to the bookstore to pick up books 3 to 5, and now I'm kind of torn about what to read, because Sahi lent me her copy of The Dirty Streets of Heaven, so I've started that too...

Re: QM - Splash!
Oh yeah, I really hate when people try to talk to you when you're clearly doing something, like reading. I've run into it places like the doctor's office, parks, waiting outside a store or office building for someone, etc. Maybe if I was sitting there and looked bored it would be different, but even then I'm not a fan of strangers randomly talking to me.
Having one of those weird days where lots of things annoy me that normally don't. Hmph.

I don't usually mind people talking to me that much, and discussing books is nice - but not with drunk strangers. Especially not when they're leaning over me and almost crawling onto my seat. Just keep the heck out of my personal space, and your breath out of my face!

Re: QM - Splash!
Better day today. Went for a walk last night after baking cookies, then took a nice cool shower and started on some thank you cards. Today I tackled and conquered the treadmill at the gym. Then at work! Annoying lady behind me is camping, OCD coworker is out, and head boss is on vacation! So it's just me, stoner coworker, and boss lady in the corner, so to celebrate boss lady bought us each a drink at the cafe in the building.

How old is he? For twelve years and older it should be MST and MST only. 'Cause it's the best of them all and it will make himmsearch for something alike his whole life ... in vain, probably. Will read your weekend adventures another time, am too tired now. *huggles everyone around sleeplily*

Re: QM - Splash!
I had the idea the son was older, more like 16 or so, seeing how he might come to work in the store soon.
Just printed a stack of empty sheet music and am now going to take a shower and pack my stuff. *dances down the stairs*

I think he's 15. Maybe 16, I'm not sure. Not much of a reader, though, so I don't want to scare him off with four huge books... so no MST quite yet.

Re: QM - Splash!
Early in my fantasy reading years, I read some of Piers Anthony's Xand series, and some of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series. I personally like Anthony's Xand series better, but I'd say either could be good introductory fantasy books. Also a lot of RA Salvatore's works are good, I did like his Legends of Drizzt series, although it IS based in the D&D universe, if he isn't into fantasy yet, it might be too "geeky" for him. The Hobbit is always good. Also, Harry Potter is good, the His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman was good, as well as A Wrinkle in Time by L'Engle.

If it should be a single volume I'd recommend Neverwhere. Absolutely brilliant and not too long.

Re: QM - Splash!
Pern was one of the first things that came to mind - apparently, he likes dragons quite a lot.
Weird day today - hardly any customers for most of the day, and then suddenly, four, five, six cars in the parking lot and everyone needing help - and of course, I was by myself then, so it got a little stressy!

Re: QM - Splash!
Not fair. The day started nice enough, went to the forest and found a lot of blackberries (which were protected by thorns and nettles, my fingers are still stinging a bit when I type), but when we came home, all of a sudden I started feeling kind of sick, shaky and cold - I really don't want to fall ill! I think I'll head off to bed soon today.

Hmm blackberries. Love blackberries. They're always worth the scratches you get from collecting them. Hope you'll be enjoying them all well and healthy. *sends strenghtening vibes to Magpies immune system*

I read them all and Magpie is absolutely right. No evil houses. The Others are definetly evil but their appearance is random and seldom. If there is a House antagonism it is Stark vs. Lannister. And they all change alliances like laundry ... kind of ...
