Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Re: Castlefest 2012

By the way, what time are you arriving in Amsterdam on Thursday?

Re: Castlefest 2012

At 5:25 PM.

I guess I'll decide about the rubber boots when I see if I can still fit them in my bag. The other silly idea I had, the bubblewrap cloak, would probably be even more useful if it rains, but that would take up even more space.

And I found something else to wear, in addition to the blue dress and the dirndl - a shirt/vest that I made when I was about 15 - out of a towel!

Re: Castlefest 2012

I'll come and pick you up on the station then. Then we'll have dinner at my place. We'll walk by the supermarket on the way to my place, so we can decide on what we want to eat right then and there.

Re: Castlefest 2012

If the weather is good, Ivo might just pick us up from the station and we'll go to the dunes for a (short) walk and dinner.

From Amsterdam, you mean, or from Assendelft?

Oh, and can you PM me your phone number again, just in case I miss a connection or something?

And a walk in the dunes sounds great! *crosses fingers for good weather*

Re: Castlefest 2012

Thanks Ylvs!

Ivo is a bit like a wind vane at the moment, Magpie. He's trying to paint our new doors and that needs good weather as well. Oh well, we can always steal the car and sneak off while he's painting. *grins and goes off to send that PM* But I was talking about coming to pick you up from Amsterdam. I'll be coming through around that time anyway.

Re: Castlefest 2012

Ylvs, thanks!

Sahi, great, I'll see you there, then! And we'll see what the weather is like, then we can always decide about stealing the car.

In the middle of last-minute preparations here, doing insane loads of laundry (I hate coming home and having chores waiting for me, especially since I'll have plenty of laundry to wash when I come home), getting the balcony tidied up so my best friend can water my plants, finally shortening that dirndl dress (only took me a year to get around to it!)... I'll start packing today, so that tomorrow I can focus on cleaning and watering.

Re: Castlefest 2012

Besides preparing for painting, I've also cleaned the guest room a bit. At least enough so the mattress can actually be put in there. :)

And of course I'm also started packing.

- altar
- picknick blanket
- cups

and many more stuff to come...

Re: Castlefest 2012

And like I don't have enough to do already, I've decided to make a bubblewrap cloak after all. It even has a magic pink pony of protection.

Re: Castlefest 2012

I'm still thinking of turning my video camera into an animal I can carry on my shoulder... Colleague just came with the idea of a snake...
