Re: Welcomes and Introductions
So, I'm kinda new but also kinda... not. But it's been long enough that I thought I'd say "hi" properly.
I'm Eggwhite, and have been since the early-to-mid 90s, which was about when I joined the ye-olde listserv. When I interact with people in meatspace I usually go by "Adrian" unless I happen to be at an SF con, in which case the handle can occasionally carry over to real life too. It's been a fair while since I read any of Tad's work for a whole bunch of reasons, but that's something I plan to fix in the not to distant future with an epic re-read of MST, and hopefully another go at Shadowmarch not long after.
That plan lead to me thinking "maybe I should go look at smarch again" (even though it's hiding behind a different name now - sneaky smarch). So here I am
To explain the "kinda... not" side of things, a few ye-olde, heavily cobwebbed Lyst types may remember me from way, way, way, waaaay back. Every few years I poke my head back in and say hi, but life is hectic and I have a long established habit of unintentionally falling off bandwagons. I fully expect that I'll fall off this one again, but this place is back in my "regulars" bookmarks, and hopefully the reread will kick me back to posting again.
When I get to it, that is - I've got some Charlie Stross and some GRRM! (I can't help but think of him as "Grrrr!" with an M on the end - hence the exclamation mark) to get through first. But when I start reading MST again, I may well start posting here more too.
Later, folks!

Welcome to the boards, Secret Squirrel. We're much better over here ;) (Though I'm quite sure that Martin's boards are very nice on occasion too; we have quite a few GRRM fans here as well.)
Glad you found us and decided to join in!

Re: Welcomes and Introductions
Hello, everyone. I'm new here -- just registered -- but I've been lurking for a month or two now. I recently finished Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn for the first time and was completely blown away by it -- now one of my favorite series ever. I hope to be reading more of Tad's work soon -- I'll probably start with his new book when it comes out, since I don't have the time right now to get into another huge series -- and joining in on some discussions.
You can call me Phillip or Phil if calling me by two different colors is too odd. I'll see you all around.
Take care. :)

Welcome to the boards Blue&Green! There'll be a Bobby Dollar discussion thread as soon as the books is published for sure. See you there ... or come over to the Mint for a drink.

Re: Welcomes and Introductions
Welcome aboard Blue&Green! We're quite used to what might be conceived as weird names. Although be warned, it might get abbreviated by some (cause we're a lazy bunch).

Hahaha! I was totally going with "B&G" too!
Phil, welcome! While we do have tendency to to truncate "names" here, it's always done with love and respect. And laziness. ;-)

Re: Welcomes and Introductions
I do not think I have been on here since shadowmarch was an online book only. So i'm here to introduce myself
The name's Shawchert or Shaw for short. I am a mother of a little boy. I enjoyed all of Tad Williams' books ever since I was in grade school. I started with Dragonbone Chair thinking it would have tons of dragons but i didn't but once I started reading it I felt connected with Simon and just kept reading and couldn't stop!!!! Currently I am reading Shadowmarch on Audio, one of the lucky one of tad's that got to be in audio and I hope for more, especially the war of the flowers and well... all of his books but it's wishful thinking. Lol. Anyway hope to try and stick around this time :)

New to the forum, but not new to Tad Williams. I've read most of his books and love them all. :)

Re: Welcomes and Introductions
Hi all.
I was reading my way through our public library and came upon Tailchaser's Song. Read it, loved it, wanted more so I then read War Of The Flowers, loved that too! Decided I had a new favorite author!
Found the Otherland series and read it from beginning to end which took quite a long time even if I am a fast reader. Loved those books too. Had to take a year off from reading to recoup. Then Shadowmarch started and I wasn't out of my self-imposed book-fast so I haven't read those. Yet.
Saw Tad's FB post about The Dirty Street's of Heaven last Thursday so I headed down to the bookstore and grabbed it, I think I have a 1st edition but don't know for sure, never bothered to check before so I don't know what I'm really looking for. For me it's the story that has the value, not necessarly the book itself. I do like the hide on this new book, it sticks to my jeans and don't slide off. The story was great, can't wait for the next one.
I live in North Carolina and am a Grandmother of two shiny new toddlers and my job is to take the very best care of them, while their parents are out making a living. I'm feel like a very lucky person indeed.
Sorry I don't use a clever pseudonym, I just don't feel the need, but if I did use one it would be Chinquapin. I'm quiet, love to read, listen to music, shop at antique and thrift stores and surf the internet. Oh and I'm a worrier. My latest worry was that since authors have to spend so much time writing for their reader's consumption, do they get enough time to read for themselves.

Re: Welcomes and Introductions
Welcome, Regina!
I have fond memories of getting Tadbooks from the library myself - they never had much Fantasy, but luckily they had Tad!
I can imagine finding time to read might be a problem for writers - but then, isn't it that way with every job? The more difficult thing might be to put aside what you're reading and actually go and write - I know it would be that way for me!

Re: Welcomes and Introductions
Welcome aboard Cara and Regina!
There really is no need for nicknames if you don't want one. Mine isn't all that clever either, I nicked it from the Junglebook. And it's the nickname I used as a cubscout leader, so I'm quite used to people calling me either Sahi or Linda (my given name).
