Hahaha! Now I'm almost hoping he will, so there's an "excuse" for having another moot!
Oooh, I'm tired! But the wedding was fun, and beautiful. A little cold, because it was outdoors, but then we didn't go home (well, to my grandparents' place) until 2 AM, after hours of dancing, and nearly deaf from the music, and then we realized that it was actually 3 AM, because of DST - and my mother had to get up at 5:30 to go to a workshop! I wasn't planning to dance, because it was neither my kind of music nor my kind of dancing, but I'm glad I did anyway. I don't know if it's done in other places, but here we have the tradition of "stealing" the bride, and the groom has to find her and get her back. I was warned it would happen, and tried to pay attention, but when they actually spirited my cousin away, I totally missed it. Then my mother saw my grandma being led away by some of my cousin's friends (who insisted the bride's grandma should come along), and we followed as well. The groom found her rather quickly, but to "ransom" her, had to give ten reasons why he should have her back. I think he got to six or seven before he said he couldn't think of any more, and just couldn't talk any more, and anyway everyone was already crying because it was so beautiful and romantic - I'm not usually a very romantic person, but... just... aww!

I need to clean. But I really don't want to... but I've already done some gardening today, so I'm excused from doing any more useful stuff today. Will have to clean tomorrow, though. I hate dirty floors.

Glad to hear you had fun!
Trying to arrange stuff for the conventions I'll be visiting this year. I always hate it when you have to choose between a cheap flight at ungodly hours or an expensive one at a more reasonable time...

Hola, Mint!
@ Everyone who responded: Thanks for all the advice. I think I'll leave my response to friend at "I appreciate what you have to say, will keep it in mind, but right now I'm not ready to confront my dad." Which is all true. (To be honest, at this point, I don't care if we never speak again. But that may change--I'm 24, and I know I think much differently than I did even 5 years ago or 10 years ago, so who knows what may happen in another 5 or 10 or more.) I guess I just get frustrated when people say things like, "You should make amends, you don't want to regret not talking to him when he's gone, blah blah blah." And I want to say "Hey look, I'm not doing it for [reason], is that good enough for you?" I guess it feels like people are judging me. But again, like I told myself before, why do I care what other people think about my relationship with my father? Augh.
@Magpie: Hooray for having a fun weekend! Weddings are fun :)
This weekend was special. Fiancee's mother was being overbearing / snooping again and basically got caught lying about it, got all huffy about it, and was acting all touchy about it all day. [I had a car appt, *she* talked to them about MY car. I also had to pick up my dress and *she* didn't like parts about the alteration. *She* had gone through fiancee's mail and her hubby's mail, claiming checking due dates, which is BS because they always know which days their bills are due.] But then Sunday we went over to fiancee's aunt & uncle's house to fix their computer, and his aunt & I went out shopping where she bought me a belated b-day present, and after that we had a relaxing de-stress day.
Yesterday I had jury duty O.o But I didn't get picked, so I'm at work today. Oh well. Was looking forward to NOT going to work, but was NOT looking forward to NOT getting reimbursed my daily wage for the days I would be serving. (New York State is special, to say the least.)

Re: QM - the mad office
Urgh. Apparently me not being here for 1 day means: (1) It is ok to touch everything on my desk, move it, and not put it back the way you found it, and (2) it is ok to forget everything we talked about on Friday. My phone was moved, my calculator was moved, my little file organizer thing was moved, my keyboard was moved, my computer was moved, the Panini was moved, my papers were moved, my pen cup was moved... I don't care if you have to sit at my desk to Panini checks (remote check deposit), but did you have to move 90% of my things? (Most of my stuff got moved because my boss forgot that the Panini can only be hooked up to one computer at a time.. And it's not computer log in specfic, it's just physical computer specific, so she could have just used her own login on my computer and it would've been fine.)

Re: QM - the mad office
This is going to be a long week - we're nearly out of pansies, primroses and daisies, which means we'll get a lot of whining customers. Look, I can't change it, I wasn't the one who bought them all, so please stop complaining - and for heaven's sake, don't whine like five-year-old children!

Because we can't do more than fill up our greenhouses - when they're full, they're full. *stomps foot* It's not my fault! (I wonder what would happen if I threw a childish tantrum the way some of my customers are doing...)
I really need to finish the drawings for that one blog post I was planning, about what not to do when shopping at a nursery/garden centre.

The customer's would probably complain to your boss that you were being rude to them--nevermind that you were simply acting as they were, you would be the rude one.

Re: QM - the mad office
Yeah, well, my bosses are pretty OK, they would probably understand I didn't start it. Still, I won't do it - I'd be embarrassed to behave that way.
We have a pretty cool and pretty rare plant blooming at work (an Amorphophallus), and it smells like rotten meat. The ladyboss and I have been joking about telling particularly annoying customers to smell that lovely flower in the corner. I sincerely hope my own plant doesn't reach flowering size for many, many years!

It's one of the reasons why I really don't want to leave this place - it is kind of a dead-end job, but they're such nice people. And most of the time, I like the work and the customers, too.

Re: QM - the mad office
I'd say as long as your job covers your expenses plus some (for savings for whatever), you enjoy what you do, and you're happy (with boss, coworkers, customers, etc.) you're already ahead of a lot of people. It seems like a lot of people can satisfy one or two, but it's hard to do all three. I know my job (mostly) covers my expenses. I don't dread coming to work because of the tasks I do, but because of the people I work with. I'd say I'm somewhere between dissatisfied and meh about my job.

Re: QM - the mad office
After last weekend, I'm quite happy to stay at home and do nothing much - I mean, sure, the wedding was fun (and I'm either still going "aww" about that one moment when M. had to give ten reasons why he should get his "stolen" bride back, or thinking that I'd never dare to write a scene like that because it would be much too cheesy and unrealistic), but it was also exhausting to be surrounded by a crowd of mostly-strangers for a full twelve hours.
About my job, yes, I know I'm pretty damn lucky. It's just that a part of me can't help thinking I could be and do so much more - that I could become a master horticulturist (if I could only find out where I'd have to take those classes, damn it! I can't find any info for my state at all.) and be someone kind of important, instead of the single employee at a tiny village nursery. Except that I don't know if I'd actually want to have more responsibility, or work with more people again. Customers can be difficult, but colleagues even more so.

Re: QM - the mad office
The thing is, how do you define important? You're pretty important to your boss right now! I say ambition and 'doing things' with your life are vastly overrated. Just be happy and try to see in what ways you already are important. (Not that there's anything wrong with looking around to see how you can improve your life and that of others.)

Re: QM - the mad office
I guess all that "but with your good grades, you have to..." that I grew up with is still having some effect on me. Ah well... I'm not planning to change anything yet, but apparently my bosses's son will start as an apprentice this autumn, and I expect that sooner or later, that'll mean I'll have to move on - there isn't really enough work for four of us all year.

Oh, and the 'good grades' thing. Good grades are a wonderful thing, the fact that we can learn so well and so easily, means we can do anything we _want_ to do.

Re: QM - the mad office
I don't expect it to happen soon, as D. will probably be at school next spring, and anyway he needs time until he's learned the most necessary things, so I'm not going to start looking quite yet. I guess it'll be good to have me around for the first time as well, as I have a good idea of what is expected at school and for the apprentice journal. I'll take it as it comes... when the time to move on comes, then I will, but until then, I'm not worrying about it.

Re: QM - the mad office
I do understand that feeling, Magpie. (But I will say that having been to school, gotten a degree, and supposedly have qualifications to get a "better" job, having not found that "better" job it still sucks...lol)
Urgh, work is really slow today... Which is dangerous, because I went ebook hunting on Amazon, and I've already told myself no more purchases! Because I have to pay for my car and groceries yet so there goes $300-$400 already... (Of course then the little devil on my shoulder says, "But then you won't notice $5!")
I have decided to have a lazy weekend, as best I can. Gotta do the car thing and go shopping, but I feel like it's a stay home, do laundry, play video games, and finish my book kind of weekend.

This is one of the reasons why I'm glad I dropped out of university. ;) I recently contacted two of my old classmates again (to tell them one of our teachers has died, which I wouldn't have heard except for my job, hah), and both of them are still at university. I don't know about any of the others, as I have neither phone numbers or e-mail addresses or anything, but this makes me feel so... I don't know, successful. Even knowing that they will probably have better-paying jobs than me when they're done, and knowing everyone expected so much "more" of me, with my top grades - but I spent the past five and a half years earning money already while they're still studying and taking exams. (And I like work so much better than school!)

Busy weekend ahead. But I did manage to knit quite a bit last night, and have already knitted another row this morning.
Going to look for materials for my greenhouse again today.
