Maen Mint!

Just returned from a week of soaking up sunshine and hiking through rolling hills in southern Spain. Spent two days in Malaga, and the rest in and around Ronda, a lovely white town straddling a deep gorge. Took far too many pictures (as usual), which I'll undoubtedly manage to put online in ~4-6 years. :P

So... I was in this meeting today... There were 5 of us, 3 little peons, 1 manager, and the president of our company. President was speaking to me, and mentioned that I should call Amazon Corporate as we have some questions about our account. While mentioning this, he said "The best part about Amazon Corporate is they speak English. American English!" and then started babbling something about how non-native English speakers from India apparently repeat themselves a lot? I just sort of stared and nodded the whole time, because while I understand he was trying to crack a joke, I don't believe that would have even warrented a "polite laugh". Nobody else laughed either, in fact everyone else looked awkward! Sure, we're all white, living in Suburbia, USA middle-class Americans. ... It's still not funny.

What would you do in that type of situation?

Times I wish my job required 0 human interaction...

Back from skiing.... and I didn't even make a ginormeous fool of myself.... hehehe.... just the one time though... was a little watery all over the place, so they had carved out a little gully for the water to flow away... was not very wide, easily crossable with skis on.... So first time I got there, no problem, I lined up parallel to it and slided across... then my dad came and stopped in front of the gully, obviously not quite sure how to cross it, so I tell him it's "easy" and make out to show him.... of course now I'm doing it without any speed behind it, skis bend, and I fall over (not in the gully though).... get up with some difficulty and then have to cross the stupid darn gully again.... all is well until my father, in his haste to get to the other side dry, ski's over my pole, which I (stupidly) don't let go, so I slide into sort of a body-split and.... fall over again..... Slightly embarrassing...
More fun was to watch my dad actually literally knock my siss out of the way in his fight to get into the chairlift.... they had both not understood the method of the gates letting you in, or stopping you.... dad went before due, siss followed, lift was already there, dad moved to the left, knocked siss out of the way (and onto the floor), got a seat in the lift and siss did not..... while about half the Netherlands was watching....
Oh and of course the first day of actual skiing when my dad finally decided to quit... which basically means my siss and I can go faster and don't have to stay back to keep an eye out.... Major misty afternoon, couldn't see two meters ahead, dripping with fog-drops, nobody on the slopes, mist-covered mysterious slopes that curved this way and that at a last moment notice... lovely.... and so was the hot chocolate that we had when, like drowned cats, we came back into the hotel....

Back now though... and job interview tomorrow... which kind of scares me.... good pay, great short distance from house, but same boring work, new colleagues instead of the fantastic ones I have now, and not the type of company I've ever wanted to work.... actually one of the type of companies I've always sworn not to ever work for..... difficult....ack!

Work is weird, Ad1tu, and don't I know it (we have the ultimate gossip of a manager, which is the main reason I want to leave my current job, I'm fed up with listening to her rant about my colleagues, knowing she rants about me behind my back, but will never say anything to my face)

It's so rare that I'm excited about clothes, but I really like these. Especially the pointy hood. I can't wait to wear the jacket, but I'm saving it for the wedding as well, don't want to get it dirty before then. Still almost a month to wait...
And I'm curious what my cousin will wear. I can't picture her in a white wedding dress at all (she also has a quirky, colourful taste in clothes.)

The weather is disgusting today, wet and windy. Glad to be home and snuggled up against the radiator.

Tired! Worked overtime for the first time today (because my boss had to go somewhere and his wife was away as well) - I knew I would, but didn't expect to stay quite as long. And I still have about 100 plants to water at home. I'm already a couple of days behind, so I can't really put it off longer. But at least I still had some soup I could warm up, so I don't have to bother with making dinner. *waits for soup*

I've been sleepy all day - I don't sleep well lately, I wake up about every hour, which is a little annoying. Towards the end of the day I was so tired I kept thinking I heard voices, and mistaking support beams for customers!
Now I wish I could just curl up on the couch and eat the rest of my marzipan, but I have to water those plants.  I guess I can eat some marzipan while I do that.

Done. Well, not quite, but I think the rest will be fine until tomorrow.

Now for my daily bit of story-writing - I haven't skipped a single day this month, so proud of myself!

A beautiful sunny day today - and warm! Felt quite strange to work in just a sweater, without warm socks, knit kap, coat, and leggings under my trousers!
Weather like this makes me want to sing, which means I get a little annoyed when there are customers (because I will only sing when no-one's listening), and I have to sing in my made-up language, because it's the only one that sounds right for the weather.

Tummy sickness finally seems to be gone. Use the last day of sick leave to clean house and do a bit exercise.

Snowdrops begin to blossom in the garden. Spring is on its way! Yay for spring!

TGIF!

Looking forward to going to bed tonight because I don't have to get up early tomorrow!

Might go fabric shopping this weekend. I asked future mom-in-law (since she helped me with my first quilt) what a good next quilt would be, and she suggested "Disappearing 9 patch." It doesn't seem technically difficult, though I will have to work extra hard on measuring correctly and sewing in straight lines, but I think I'm going to have to work more on my color-coordination. Which will mean lots of wandering... Maybe I should pick a theme first, lol.

Random thought of the day: I do mind untidiness a lot less than dirt - but I'd so much rather tidy up than clean! (Sadly, cleaning is really, really necessary today, so I'd better get started.)
