Oh dear, the mint is the spitting image of my office!

And ow I'm in the office without actually being in the office. One kid is tummy sick, the other has a cold and mom stays home and tries to forget all the stuff she had planned for today ...

I was asked the weirdest question ever today, by the firewood delivery guy... I regularly get asked if I'm the boss's daughter, which is a reasonable enough guess, given our age difference (35 years) and the fact that it is a small family business. But today? "Are you [the boss]'s wife?"
I just said, "no..." with a a baffled stare, but once he was gone, I hid behind the potting machine and just laughed!

That is funny, too!

The strange thing is, everyone always mistakes me for much younger - lots of my customers assume I'm about 16. So ... married to a 60-year-old? Seriously?


I'm in an odd mood this week - now that spring is on its way, I want to go away, I want to travel, see the world - just turn my back on everything and walk away, hike over the hills, hop on a train and go somewhere, anywhere... I won't, of course, and I can't even take time off in spring, but still... how much I wish I could...

I'm finally sleeping better this week - last week, I kept waking up about every hour. But now, I absolutely can't perssuade myself to go to bed at a reasonable time, so I still don't get much sleep. I still dream a lot, though (nothing particularly funny tonight, but at one point I saw some black storks and thought, "wow, I'll have to post in the Mint about this"... well, now I did, but I was a little disappointed to discover they were not real)

Finally, weekend!

And I'm ridiculously pleased about getting a houseplant trade request on my blog - and one I could say yes to, as well - I had to decline one before because I can't legally send plants to the US.

I'm feeling better again and even consider to resume eating.
The house is still quiet this early morning and I wait for the paper to arrive.

Well, this was an unexpectedly successful day. Admittedly, at times I felt like just sitting in a corner and crying with frustration, because I hate, hate, hate shopping for clothes, and fashion and me are polar opposites, which makes the whole thing worse. My mother dragged me through what felt like a million of stores, but probably were "only" about fifteen (and if I'd been by myself, I wouldn't have gone into a single one). But finally, on the way back to the car, when we'd given up and I was almost determined that I'd simply have to sew a skirt myself (can someone explain to me why you can get short skirts in the winter, but long skirts only in summer?) when we found another little shop that I almost didn't go into because it smelled so strongly of incense. But they had a pretty dress - which, of course, was too big for me.
But my mother says she knows someone who can fix that, so I bought it anyway. And on the way home I realized that I can wear the necklace my father bought me in Morocco with it - I've never worn it because I never had anything to wear it with.

And I got a new jacket for spring, too, which I didn't strictly need, but I'm ridiculously pleased about it - I wanted something brightly-coloured, and it is bright green with a funny pointy hood.

Now I just need to find either a cardigan to wear over the dress, or a shirt to wear under it. And shoes. But I need new shoes anyway.


After that endless trudging-through-stores, I visited a friend of my mother's who recently bought a house, and helped her design her garden, and earned back the money for either the dress or the jacket. (And it was fun, too.)

Yay for pretty new clothes! Please send us pictures! (Yes, I'll even accept pictures without you in them, but prefer to see them on you.)

I've got lots of packages coming my way now. keyboard/mouse, book, health care stuff, business cards, travel card, music book, t-shirts. What do you mean online shopping spree? *innocent look*

OK, here goes:
The dress (without me in it, because it doesn't fit right yet, and it still smells so strongly of incense I almost have to hold my breath)
the jacket - it also feels so wonderfully comfortable that I wish I could wear it all the time.

Magpie, what a lovely lovely dress! And it's absolutely appropriate for a wedding.
As far as I know there are only two rules for weddings dresses. First is to dress up very nicely and the second is not to wear white as this is the bride's privilege. Second rule is not heeded strictly anymore as I noticed on the last weddings I attended.
I really like the pointy hood of your jacket as well ... and I wished I would manage to knit a sweater. The last I did was for Medea when she was two years old.

Sunday morning dawns after another night with hardly sleep. The viruses are not conquered yet. This time it was Medea's head I had to hold while she emptied her tummy time and again. I'm sooo tired but it is morning so I can't go back to sleep. I wish I could.

If Medea gets slightly better and accepts to stay with dad instead of mum later, I'll go and seemthe new muppets movie with Freya this afternoon. I so hope it'll work out, I sooo much want to see it!

Why do I always forget about things until they are almost upon me? We'd planned to have a social meeting with our Duchess group next Thursday. Of course I hadn't done anything for it except to let people know the date...

Hadn't heard of anybody yet, so now I've sent a text message to as many people as I had numbers of. Already got one reply, negative. But at least now I know that number is still valid. :) Hopefully I'll get more responses before tomorrow evening, so I can make a reservation.
