Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
I finished How to Live Safely in a Science Fictional Universe by Charles Yu and I think I'm the only person who has read it who didn't like it. It was a rather dull touchy-feely self-discovery kind of thing wrapped in time travel.
And I've now started THE book - (Shadowheart, in case there is someone here who couldn't guess what THE book was.)

Finally started Shadowheart, too. Finished my re-read of Shadowrise at about half past twelve in the morning, and meant to go to bed then, but, you know... "Just one chapter... oh, just another one... and one more... and... whoops, why is it four o'clock already?"

I can't read any more of Full Dark, No Stars too dark for me right now. I don't think I've ever given up a Stephen King book. Ever. Must be at a weird place in my life right now.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
Just finished Robin Hobb's Dragon Haven. It was all right, but it fails to truly satisfy in and of itself. The end offers resolution of a sort, but you end up feeling as though you have read the second volume of a trilogy and you are left with too many unanswered questions. . .
Last week I completed GRRM and Gardner Dozois' Songs of Love & Death, which was pretty good.
Check out the blog for the full reviews. :)
Next up: My review of R. Scott Bakker's The White-Luck Warrior!

Just finished R. Scott Bakker's The White-Luck Warrior.
Though the philosophical aspects and the inner musings are back and slow the pace in some instances, this books was nevertheless the shit!

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
I finished Shadowheart this morning. There's nothing quite like a mostly happy ending to start off a new year. I shall miss Ferras Vansen.
Next up is The Black Prism by Brent Weeks.

The only resolution I've made for 2011 is to finally read King's Dark Tower series. I'm a huge Stephen King fan but I've never been able to tackle this.
So - reading The Gunslinger

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
Just finished Patrick Rothfuss' The Wise Man's Fear.
Though it suffers from the same shortcomings as The Name of the Wind, Rothfuss upped his game in this one. Fans will love it, while those who weren't that impressed with TNotW need not bother, methinks.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
I finished Cartomancy by Mary Gentle yesterday and started book 7 of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole - The Hatchling by Kathryn Lasky. I did not like the Gentle as much as I was expecting to since I usually am a big fan. Actually, I didn't really like it at all. Oh, well.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
I liked the Left Hand of God. It was a bit YA-ish, but really nice.
I'm at the verge of finishing the last book of The Black Company("Soldiers Live") by Glen Cook, and I love that series. It's just fantastic. It had me in stitches, it had me crying, it had me pumping my fist in the air and going "YES!!!!"(on the subway, no less), it had me sobbing. I'm reluctant to read the last 300 or so pages...

I'm about half done with the book and I'm not really sure if I like it or not. It is a little YA-ish but rather harsh. I think I may be burning out on all these "gritty" books that have come out the last few years. I think I might be in the mood for some fluff where everything is happy endings.

I finished The Left Hand of God by Paul Hoffman. I don't think I liked it. I haven't quite made up my mind. Next up is Promises in Death by J. D. Robb.

Just finished Steven Erikson's The Crippled God.
Although it leaves many unanswered questions, the book blew my mind quite a few times!

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
I've finished Promises in Death by J. D. Robb. It was a nice break from reading fantasy. There's nothing like a little murder mystery to cleanse the reading palate.
Next up is Gideon the Cutpurse by Linda Buckley-Archer.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
Finished Gideon the Cutpurse by Linda Buckley-Archer last night. Nice read. I enjoyed it much more than some of the "adult" stuff I've read recently.
Next up is Vampyres of Hollywood by Adrienne Barbeau and Michael Scott. Not normally a vampire fan, but I must have been in a funny mood when I bought the book, and I admit to being in a funny mood last night when I started it. Four short chapters in and nothing much to recommend it so far. But I'm still in a funny mood so . . .

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
Finished Vampyres of Hollywood by Barbeau and Scott. Meh. Next up is Bloodline by F. Paul Wilson. It is a Repairman Jack novel. I have no idea who Repairman Jack is.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
Finished Bloodline by F. Paul Wilson. First time reading a Repairman Jack novel. Interesting concept. I'm not going out of my way find other Jack books, but when comes my way, I'll certainly consider getting it.
Next up is The Somnambulist by Jonathan Barnes.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
I finally could put off reading Martin's ASoIaF series no longer with the tv adaptation coming out soon. I had been putting it off because I wanted to wait for more of the books to be published. Anyway, I kind of kept a log of my reading of it over at Westeros.org as I was reading it. Its in the General forum there if anybody is interested.
I was "Dan" back on Shadowmarch.

This book makes me squirm, and cringe, and want to go ouside for really long periods of time, and wish my house didn't have a skylight.
