Austria Moot II

Since Magpie has a new house, we should all go and have a look at it. :)

Anyway, my own suggestion was the weekend of the 26h/27th of February. I could possibly change this to a week earlier, but not the week before that. I'll be going to Sweden on the 13th (and won't be coming back until the 16th, so it would be very busy for me, but still possible).

*laughs*
I was going to open a thread for it as soon as things were slightly less chaotic - though goodness knows when that might be!

Like I said in the Mint, late February should be fine for me. *bounces*

Re: Austria Moot II

And you're most definitely wanted, too. Think you can make it? Either that weekend or the one before, which Aan said was slightly less unrealistic for him (though I don't know if that means it is actually realistic)

Have to check that.... my birthday present was a weekend course Irish music and I know that's in Feb... just gotta find out when exactly that is.... but if I can I most definitely will!

Re: Austria Moot II

Oooooh! How could I miss this thread!? I would totally love another Austria moot! Of course, I'm expecting to see a much bigger kangaroo this time. If you need help, I am also quite good at decorating houses (not very good at painting walls, though, my own room still has green splotches, where it should be yellow).

Aan and I had a very swift look at flights and it seems quite pricy :(
So, we are thinking about it. Also, we were confused: Where exactly would we have to come? Where did you move to?

Re: Austria Moot II

I'm still in the same town (Leonding, which is near Linz, which in turn is about 200 km west of Vienna).

Kangaroos, hm? We have a little zoo, but I haven't been there in ages, so I don't even know if they have kangaroos at all.
But if you two can't make it, we can always have another moot when you're on the right continent again (just not in April and May, as work is crazy then).

Libra, checked yet? *hopes the course is on a different weekend*

Re: Austria Moot II

By the way, we'll have to settle on a date really soon now, as the prices of both airline and railway tickets will only go up steeply...

Re: Austria Moot II

I'd really appreciate a decision too - but right now I can't even prod people, as I'm leaving for a workshop tomorrow, and will probably be entirely without internet access for the rest of the week.

Re: Austria Moot II

I've been waiting for my brother to get some answers on things necessary for our hopeful trip to Patagonia. Timing on that would determine the likelihood of this being feasible. So far he's not having much luck with getting answers on his emails, though...

Still, I'll discuss options with xavie tonight.

My weekend of Irish music is going to be 11-13 Feb... so any other weekend is free!!!

Re: Austria Moot II

xavie and me aren't going to come to any conclusion as fast as we'd like. I'd suggest people should pick a date for this to happen independently of us, and we'll see how we can make things fit into our plans. (xavie's pretty definitely wanting to come; me, I love the idea, but less the reality of spending twice ~6 hours travelling for barely a day and a half worth of hanging out, and unless I know for certain that the Patagonia trip isn't happening, I can't justify taking more days off work, which could otherwise be a solution.)

(As for picking a date: The 26th/27th would be the weekend before the ideal date for the Patagonia trip, so rather bad if that does happen, but given the general uncertainty for us anyway, I think that should be less of a concern than the 19th/20th being bad for Sahi.)

Re: Austria Moot II

I think the 19/20th might actually be more convenient for me - the last weekend before I start to work will probably be filled with "oh, I still have to do this - and that - and that - and twenty other things - and there are only three days left!"

Guess it's time to check plane (plain? can't figure which one it is right now, too tired) fares then.

Re: Austria Moot II

I'm looking at a flight that arrives in Linz on Friday evening 22.45 (flying over Frankfurt) and leaves at 15.40 on Sunday (flying over Vienna).

Re: Austria Moot II

Found a flight that will get me there an hour earlier. Hmm, now that I think of it, I forgot about having to be at the airport early. *grins* Oh well, guess that means I have to take a few hours off.

Re: Austria Moot II

hiya all.
Thank you Sahi for the personal invitation over in the Mint and yes I'd really considered for weeks if I can make it but I can't.
Loads of workstuff, family and a cat with terminal cancer - it's just too much at the moment.
I'm considering fantasy con though...

Re: Austria Moot II

Sahi, arriving late won't be a problem for me - I'm never in bed at that time anyway. Even when I try. ;) Also, there should be less traffic by then, so I might even be able to drive out and pick you up.

Ylvs, sorry to hear you're too busy (and poor cat  - huggles for both of you!) but as I said to Aan and xavie, if you can't make it this time, all the more reason for another moot!

Re: Austria Moot II

*sigh* So many choices!

Right now I'm leaning towards this flight plan:

18-02-2011
18:25     Amsterdam     -     19:35     Frankfurt
21:45     Frankfurt     -     22:45     Linz

21-02-2011
14:45     Linz     -     15:55     Frankfurt
17:45     Frankfurt     -     18:55     Amsterdam

If I can still get that ticket on monday morning, that's the flight I will book. (I still need to ask Monday off at work first.)

Re: Austria Moot II

I was thinking, I could come up for one day, probably the Saturday- the 19th?
I don't know if I can swing it, though, €64 there and back again is a bit harsh on my budget.
Will ponder it a bit and let you know:)
