Re: QM - SPQR
Thanks, Magpie. Now I can have a fire in our fireplace!
I'm reworking the heel of this sock for the third time! Getting lots of practice with wrap-and-turns.
Knitpicks is having a sale. Cannot even get on their site, it is getting so much traffic. They've extended the sale through tomorrow, it is so popular.
Someday will find you.

Re: QM - SPQR
Big news! We own a piece of furniture! We finally decided that we really do want / need a couch (we are currently borrowing 2 chairs from his parents and that's really the only sitting furniture we have) so we went out shopping. We knew what we wanted (a sectional) and it just took browsing around to find what we really liked. It's a nice three piece with a sofa, armless loveseat, and a chaise in a dark chocolate brown with some spiffy throw pillows! Merry Christmas, us!! hehe It's extra exciting because not only is this the first piece of *our* furniture, but it is our first piece of *owned* furniture. We have 2 comp desks (don't count), 2 bookcases from my house, a futon he bought, the bed was an extra from his parents, the kitchen table was, too... And that's really all the furniture we have >.> Ah lives of poor college students... At least ones who don't get to spend their parents money *sarcastic eyeroll*

*wavies*
I went to the huge shopping center that's near the new flat yesterday and I found a shop. of doom. my doom. It's a Lana Grossa shop, and for those who don't know what it is, it's WOOL company. Finest wool, to be exact. They have nice pointy needles like I like them, too. No 20 minutes from my new place. Ack. I already bought 4 balls of finest Merino virgin wool. And got a customer card. And I'm in love with the wool. I could knit all day long, it's so soft! The Benny-Bunny cat approves, too. For the first time, he didn't play with the yarn, he just snuggled up to it *grins*
I need a new merino hat and a new merino cowl and new merino mitts and a merino shawl and and and..
In other news, christmas craziness has started. And I'm busybusybusy. And overworked..

YAY for a LYS, Sisterdew!!!!! I love wool, too. The socks I am knitting are a fingering weight 100% merino. It is especially nice for fair isle knitting.
I like me some pointy sticks. I need more.
Someday will find you.

Re: QM - SPQR
It's the softest yarn I ever had- I'm utterly in love with it. Glad I got some of the niceness for myself, too. 2 balls are for a cowl for a friend's daughter(she's 5 and admired my own cowl greatly) in OMG PURPLE!!! in worsted weight. the colour is lovely, but not for me, as much as I love purple. The kidlet will love it:) and 2 balls in dark grey, not as thick as the worsted, but not exactly sock weight, either, sooo lovely. It will become either mitts or a hat. for ME.

*drops into mint*
I's on crazy time.... for some reason in my mind it should still be summer, or at the most autumn, but there snow, and it's cold... and my mind and body have issues with it... Gah... and my birthday's coming, which is ridiculously fast and should be prevented from happening within a week already.... and Christmas as well.... I think voldemort possessed me for a while cause I seem to have lost quite some time...

'dew, I'm jealous - walking past the yarn shop yesterday was so tempting, but I don't dare to spend anything on unneccessary things right now. It's not like I don't have plenty in my yarnbox, still - just need to figure out what to do with it!
Ad1tu, yay for furniture! I'm jealous of you, too, for finding something you like - I've been looking around and I only find ugly sofas. Only ugly furniture in general, apparently my tastes don't agree with current furniture-fashion at all. And the one I'd like, I can't afford.

Re: QM - SPQR
Hi there, I've skimmed through the mint thread here, and it looks like a chat thing going on, so I'm gonna jump in. Just let me know if I've got it all wrong, but I saw all the talk about yarn related craftiness going on and felt I had to join in.
I don't really knit myself, but I do like to crochet. I'm currently working on a sweater. I still have the sleeves left to do. I did try to give knitting a chance once, but I get so frustarted with the hassle of making a mistake and tryning to pick up stitches after frogging. It's just so much easier with crochet having only one stitch at a time. And with crochet you can go in any direction you want at any time you want.

Yup, the Mint is our virtual bar here, where we talk about just about everything - whatever comes up. And it's always great to see new people here! (The old ones, too, of course ;) )
I don't do much crocheting - not since I learned how to knit again. I used to make some pouches and such as a kid, and doll clothes... but I don't think I'd have the patience to crochet a whole sweater! I just made myself an oven cloth, and found crocheting much slower and harder on the fingers than knitting. Also, I can read while knitting, but not while crocheting.

Re: QM - SPQR
Snow craziness here, too. Went to the mall because I needed to get my glasses fixed, and on the way there, it started to snow. So I decided, "I'm not going out of here without new boots!"
Also, I got the keys to my flat! Yay! However, I discovered that the previous tenants were rather lazy about cleaning, so I have a lot of work ahead before I can even think about moving in. And the taps in the bathroom are dripping like crazy. So those need to be replaced, too.

Re: QM - SPQR
It's also a winter wonderland here in Sweden. It was actually sunny and snowing at the same time today, so it was kind of beautiful walking home from the supermarket today, eventhough it was freezing cold and a bit too much snow in the air to look up and enjoy the view.
Sisterdew, what do you do with the amigurumis? I've thought about crocheting some, but I wouldn't know what to do with the result.
I think the most fun thing that I've crocheted was gloves without using a pattern. I wrote down what I was doing when I did the right hand glove, so I could do them same only morrored for the left glove. Turned out quite nice. I used them for 3 winters, but then they started to get holes and I had to stop using them before they unravelled.

to be honest, so far I've mostly made C'thulhus (3 I made) and gave them to friends as gifts. Oh, and I made 3 small ducks:D I plan to make 4 Daleks- the Cult of Skaro for my living room. And maybe another set for my brother. Probably going to make a few toys for my newly adopted cat as well:)

Winter coldness over here too. And apparently it came so fast that on top of my new job, my body decided it couldn't handle things. So now I have a cold.

Re: QM - SPQR
Just made an extremely useless trip to the employment agency - took me about an hour to get there, and another 1.5 to get back (I got lost), all for talking about two minutes.
On the other hand, I should get the bathroom tabs fixed by the housing agency. It's still annoying, but at least I don't have to pay for it.

Re: QM - SPQR
I'm also looking for a job right now. The employment agency here in Sweden gives you the oppertunity to meet with a job coach during 3 months for free. He will then help you go over your CV, look for jobs that suits you and go over your applications and prepare you for interviews if you are so lucky that a company likes your application enough to invite you in. It took the employment agency about a month before they asigned me a job coach, but I've been to see him once already and we are going to meet ebery other week until February or until I get a job. I am a CAD-draughter, and I was working in the offshore buisiness in Holland. There's not really any offshore companies here and it's far between the CAD-draughting jobs in southern Sweden, so I'm thinking about studying logistics. I'll gocrazy if I have to sit on the coach all day, even though it includes drinking tea and reading a good book. Sometimes it's just nice to get out and interact with people.
Sisterdew, I haven't read Lovecraft, but they look absolutely adorable!
And now I think I deserve a cup of tea and some Shadowmarch reading. (I've been shoveling snow outside my front door.)

Re: QM - SPQR
I'm not actually looking - I'll have a job again in March (the little nursery I work(ed) at is closed for the winter) - would be nice to have some temporary job in between, but my Christmas market job didn't happen. At least the employment agency know believes me that I'll get that nursery job again, so they won't bother me too much.
Now, off to drag some stuff over to my new flat, and clean the kitchen (the previous tenants didn't think much of cleaning, apparently, so that'll be quite a bit of work!)

Re: QM - SPQR
six hours of cleaning, and I'm still only half done with the kitchen! The state those people left it in - I wouldn't allow my kitchen to look like that even if I lived all alone and knew I wouldn't get visitors for the next three years, let alone leave it to a new tenant like that!

Reminds me of my appartment when I moved in.... took me 4 whole days to get it spotless.... well and then I started living in it... hehe...
The snow is making people crazy... I mean, sure I take more care than usual while driving, but it's seriously not necessary to do ten km an hour on a road that was already mostly cleaned... And I certainly don't need stupid boys throwing snowballs against my car while I'm driving......
Got a job offer in London today.... not quite sure what to think... I'm thinking of so many things now, that I'm just not sure what to do in general... *grin*... pffff.... I must get some courage from somewhere... maybe I should visit Oz....
