Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

How are you today, Magpie?  I've spent the morning unraveling a failed knitting project and now trying to decide what to do with the yarn.

Re: QM - SPQR

I just got back from Manu's place - spent the weekend talking about stories, trying to find a café for NaNoWriMo write-ins, and winding yarn into balls - I have space in my yarn box again, yay! No time to knit, though, not until December.

Re: QM - SPQR

I have about 2 dozen boxes for yarn.  If I ever run out of room, go ahead and send in a rescue team.

Two dozen...?

Oh wait, I have over hundred plants. I shouldn't talk.

Actually, I really shouldn't talk, but go to bed.

Next project - toe-up socks with a provisional cast-on. The thought of a seamless toe appeals to me.

Re: QM - SPQR

I has begun research on my essay. I'm analysing the effects Irans nuclear weapons program has on regional and global security in the face of growing opposition.

Not a complicated topic at all... :S

Augh. Computer is making very strange sounds - wanted to write a bit before work, but instead I'm continuing with the monstrous task of backing up everything (which, luckily, I started last week). *worries*

Gah. And thanks to this, I've now forgotten to make myself some tea to bring to work. *shivers*

No tea is bad!

I assume its especially bad in a European winter where you guys have that frozen water stuff that falls out of the sky instead of rain.

Re: QM - SPQR

Yeah, I know the feeling. Waiting to hear from a recruiter, waiting to hear back from Oracle about my exam (which I'm pretty sure I failed two months ago), trying to get some code to work...

*grumbles*

No progress at all today. I spent all of today trying to find out how that stupid repository is supposed to be working. Or rather how the search functionality is supposed to work.

And now I'm hungry and grumpy.

It's not quite that cold yet, but it can be decidedly uncomfortable already. Last week, the shop (where I sit during my lunchbreak) had about 13°C. 16 or 17 if I remembered to close the door half an hour before my break, and open the door to the warmer greenhouse.

Luckily, it was quite warm today. And there were customers. Who gave tips.

Re: QM - SPQR

Yay for tips!

I've been fed in the mean time, but the hunger isn't quite gone. The reason? No candy at all today. My body is telling me that it doesn't like the reduction in sugars. But my scales tell me it's necessary.

Re: QM - SPQR

I'm frantically sorting through my photos. I want work on a story, but I want to finish this first, because my computer is making weird sounds, and everything needs to be backed up, and I don't really want backup copies of crappy pictures.

*glares at computer*
I just had to buy a new printer, so don't you dare stop working, too!

And now my monitor is making popping sounds. What is this, the self-destruction mechanism because the warranty has run out?
