I have to admit that those Terry Bot posts are a tiny little bit funny :-)

Persistent little gits, aren't they?
Thanks guys, for all the background work you do to keep this place clean.
Er. Tidy? No. Uncluttered? Ha.

Re: (Human) spambots are back :(
They've started using tor (an anonymizing service) to post. :/ I guess I'm going to need to hack rel="nofollow" into punbb for new posters; taking away the value they get from posting here seems to be the only effective way forward. Now where did I leave that spare bucket of free time?

Re: (Human) spambots are back :(
Something that's started happening over on the Melanie Rawn forum is hackers or bots or some other ill-mannered sort trying to take over already existing accounts. I hadn't been there in a year and a half until I got a notice that my account had been locked out for too many password failures, and it turns out I'm not the only one.
Might want to watch out for that, if you haven't run into it already.

Re: (Human) spambots are back :(
Hmm, thanks for the warning. I've been advising people on another forum where I moderate to put in some pre-emptive counter measures for that, but never considered this place (mostly cause it seems low profile to me). Will have to make some time to see how punbb acts by default when faced with that problem.

Re: (Human) spambots are back :(
I just got rid off it. That kind of profile is a definite sign of a spam registration. (Also, IP address was in Russia.)

Re: (Human) spambots are back :(
I don't know. If you don't see an ip address next to posts here (in the left column), then probably not... (Actually I don't think you can ban people (nor remove their signatures) either, can you?)

Re: (Human) spambots are back :(
As Mantidae, we CAN see IP's. But I haven't got a clue if we can ban and all that stuff.

And might Basilgra know that 100% of European mantidae are not online today due to RL moot? ... ominous ...

Re: (Human) spambots are back :(
Sahi took care of the posts yesterday; I banned both ip addresses of this spammer (one for registration, one for posting) today.
