Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Re: Castlefest 2010

OMG! So gorgeous!

I finished the first purse yesterday. I made a mistake in the design, which meant I had to either take it apart (lining from fabric) or stich the sides by hand. I chose the latter. It looks pretty (I used the same stitch Libra is using for the braces), but it was a LOT of work. So now I'm going to do it differently so I can actually do it all by machine, which should go a lot faster. At least now I know that the size is about right.

Re: Castlefest 2010

Hehe, my best friend and I will feel so shabby in our simple dresses - most of you know mine, and hers is pretty much the same, except made without my mother's help.
But since we're both bare-footed, dirty-fingered peasant girls at heart, such simple clothes are just right for us.

Re: Castlefest 2010

@ Sahi: I'm SO glad you like it!  All I have left to do is insert the elastic on the other two blouses, and then sew closed all of the openings left for elastic-insertion.  Oh, and sew the clasps onto the cloaks.  One thing though - when I tried mine on, bf said he could still discern the outline of my underwear even under 3 layers of skirts.  I was wearing black, so I'm thinking a flesh-tone would not be noticeable.

@ Magpie:  Simple has its own appeal, not the least of which is less work and headaches.  Which is what I shall remind myself of when I start considering next year's costumes.  ;-)

I was thinking of wearing tights or some such underneath. But we'll just have to see.

Seems to be a sort of tradition with me, bringing tomatoes for SAGE, even if it was only "leftovers" last year.

Re: Castlefest 2010

By the way, you two need to tell me more about your plans, so we can see if we can fit a day at my place into them. (Cause I have plenty of days left to take off, so a week day is no problem.)

And just this morning, I finished embroidering the owl.

Re: Castlefest 2010

Sahi, it's prolly best for you to confer with Libra.  I arrive on the 29th, we're going to Paris on Aug. 2-4 iirc, we'll be at Castlefest, and we plan to visit Barbara but I'm not sure when.  Then I leave on the 10th.  Geez, that doesn't sound like a whole lot of time.

Hopefully I'll be able to work on the cart tonight. I wanted to do it yesterday, but had forgotten to charge the battery of the drill.

Re: Castlefest 2010

I suppose you'll be bringing the banner again, Sahi? If you do, I'll just keep an eye out for it (and familiar faces, of course!), and we'll meet you there sooner or later, since I don't know when we'll be arriving, and I generally keep my phone off when I'm on holiday (not to mention that I despise these "I'm here, where are you?" phone calls).

Re: Castlefest 2010

Yup, look for the banner and the cooler-altar. Although the altar will probably have a piece of cloth over it with a porcupine (green), an owl (red) and a sailfish (blue) on it. They'll probably be located in front of the main music stage again.
