Re: Infinity's
That is really cool Peter!
My dad the Sharks fan is coming up next weekend ~ he grew up in Detroit but has lived in CA for 40 years -- he said he couldn't even watch the series between the Red Wings & Sharks...
Going to be 28C here today... yay! Summer weather !!

Thank you for your compliments AJ and Calesta. However, the way the Canadiens are playing now, it is currently 3-0 for Philadelphia with 5:39 left in the third period, I wonder if there will be any partying come Thursday.

Re: Infinity's
We are hoping for a hockey miracle!! I'd hate to see Chris Pronger make it to the Stanley Cup finals....
We are also off to my brother and sister in law's house for the long weekend mostly so my sister in law and I can watch the Lost finale together - we usually text back & forth but decided we needed to be together for this one....

Re: Infinity's
Well, I took my impending hockey heartbreak to Quebec City for the long weeknd.
And OMG! What a lovely beautiful, clean city and friendly, friendly people....it's pretty bad it took me so long to get there when it's the capital of my province.
We drove up on the 20 which was incredibly scenic, and back on the 40 which wasn't so much, but it had plenty of Tim stops so it was just as good really ;)
The last few weeks we're trying to get out and explore the province - it's been fun - apart from hubby driving over a baby mountain by a single track dirt road. He agrees with me now that if ATV's are the only things you see coming towards you it's a clear sign to turn the car around while you still can!

Re: Infinity's
That sounds wonderful AJ. I would love to get to Quebec City one of these days. I was just looking at some pictures of it today on the board next to the French classroom at my son's school.
We had an awesome field trip today to a big farm south of the city. Would have been amazing if it weren't for the SNOW. It was like a bloody blizzard down there. So as cool as the trip was we couldn't help but talk about how amazing it would have been if it was sunny and dry. *sigh* I want to move.

Re: Infinity's
It really was lovely in Quebec City Calesta, I really do recommend it.
I saw the pictures of your snow on our local CTV news - it really came down didn't it?
We've got completely the opposite problem here - my town is under a complete water ban and there are some very big forest fires - not near me though, but it's awful to watch all the interviews of the people who are affected.
I went shopping for summer colthes today, who in god's name is a size 0 - shouldn't you be invisible at that size? - completely depressing. Still, I did manage to find a couple of skirts and tops so - yay.

My oldest wears size 0. Is it wrong to be jealous of your children? Not only does she wear size 0, but she's naturally well-endowed (30D). It is so unfair!!!!

*flops in a chair*
Just when I think I understand hockey, Halak gets traded.......
I'm seriously in need of a hockey fan coaching!!!!!
Also, FIFA 2010 is eating my life - I think I may be the only english person who feels sorry for Woods. Put it this way, I haven't found one yet, but I do know quite a few Americans who have a soft spot for him! :D
There's been some really good games. I do enjoy football

Re: Infinity's
AJ, you are not the only who does not understand why Halak was traded. It is an absolutely wrong, stupid, bone-headed decision. I mean, what was Gauthier thinking of????!!!!!???? This kind of decision goes against all logic. It is completely irrational!!! Our GM just turned the Canadiens from a team that would have won the Stanley Cup next season, into a team whose next playoff run will be in 2016!!!! In addition, Gauthier has alienated the entire city of Montreal!!!! Its citizens, its media, everyone overwhelmingly thinks this trade is nuts!!
About the only winners in this are the St. Louis Blues. With Halak as their starter, they will make the playoffs next season, something they did not do this year. Also, look for them to take out Chicago in the 2011 NHL playoffs, in either the quarter-finals, or semi-finals.
P.S. I have been following the soccer also. I am participating in a World Cup pool at work, so I do want to know what is going on. My office cafeteria also has a flat screen TV, so I always get a few minutes each morning when I come in, to check out the soccer before I start work.

Re: Infinity's
Peter,
I suppose we will only really know if the decision regarding Halak is good or bad next season. Most people I know thought Price was the one who would go. It seems a strange decision right now though!
As for the soccer - It looks like the European teams are stuggling. Well apart from Portugal. Team France seems to be falling apart quite spectacularly and England after that last fiasco seem to be scared of the ball - bit of a problem that.... I can see England and France refusing to let their teams back in their countries - at least that would be entertaining!! ;D
Spain - I'm not too sure whats happening there although the game today was better but you expect them to win against Honduras and Italy, what can we say there?
I still aren't sure how the Dutch beat Cameroon - Cameroon seemed to have the ball the majority of the time, but couldn't find the net.
It will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

Re: Infinity's
My son has started watching much of the world cup - not a sport my family has been into (its not hockey...) but his school is quite multicultural & it seems to have rubbed off on him.
I am taking him to the Star Wars concert on Saturday to celebrate his first year at the new school (was a HUGE transition for all of us... and yay! we not only survived but he thrived there). In another proud moment he asked if he could wear his clone trooper costume (no prompting from me). He's a geek! I love it.

Re: Infinity's
You are so lucky to have your kids still young and at home. I'm missing mine dearly as he took off for Victoria a couple of months back when school ended. Wanted to be with the girlfriend. I'm just thankful she lived in Vic and not some far off country. *sigh*
However, I DO have his xbox for the summer. :)

That is so cute!!!
Could I adopt him?! ;) My two would only dress up in the house and at halloween.
@Jen - I've not quite got to the actual girlfriend stage yet - although there has been chrushes and a couple of hopeful young ladies........
It's good he left you his Xbox - I can't get near the Play Station 3 these days. I hope he has fun and you don't miss him too much.
I went to my youngest's primary school graduation today. Can you believe it? He was in preschool when I first found the Shadowmarch site. Now he is as tall as me!
His yearbook is a CD, so we're now going to look at it.

Why do they have to grow up so fast? And why do I think its not fast enough at other times??
We went to see Toy Story 3 last week & yes, that was me, crying and crying!! My family laughed at me...

Re: Infinity's
I totally understand Calesta.
I think that on the whole time does go too fast. And seriously, in the graduate gown and hat he looks sixteen - they all did!
I honestly had one of those moments this week at the grad party one of his friends mum & dad threw , when I felt I had blinked and missed my youngest suddenly growning up. We all just looked at our sons who were swimming in the rain and they'd stopped to pose and wave at us, and and one mum said ' look at the young men our boys are becoming' and with that 11 mums were all teary and hugging each other, while the dads hurried to check the barbeque and the contents of the cooler!
It was one of those days, the group are splitting to three different schools while two are heading to different provinces, and realistically it's probably the last time all the boys will get together in one big group. It was a bit bittersweet, to be honest.

*hugs AJ*
hard to see them grow up and break up a good group of people! I felt that way at the end of hockey season this year - william was beside himself when he had to say goodbye to some of his teammates...
We've been wasting the first part of our summer playing Lego Harry Potter. I kind of like when I don't have to send them to school!

Re: Infinity's
I remember those days...it's one of the hardest things about going back to work, leaving the boys to amuse themselves (although my husband works from home so they aren't alone) however even if I was home I don't suppose they'd want me playing with them now!!!
I used to love lego :D
I'm campaigning for my youngest to read the Harry Potter books himself...he's just finished the Percy Jackson series and the french series Amos Daragon so I think he might.
My eldest is a voracious reader, his brother not so much...

Re: Infinity's
My daughter read up to the Order of the Phoenix and then she stopped, wonder if I can get her to pick it up again this summer?
Will and I finished the Lego Harry Potter game - now we have to wait 'til October for Part II
*waits*
*fidgets*
Am also fidgety because we are headed out on our summer road trip at the end of the month - Yellowstone, Grande Tetons & lots of shopping days in Montana. I want to leave now!!
*fidgets*
And also, stupidly, before we have even finished the above vacation, we have booked 2 weeks in Orlando next spring 9 months away.... but I am going to Hogwarts!!!!

I would love to go to Yellowstone! I will love to hear all about the trip!
I would also love to go back to Greece (where my sister is right now) and Spain (where my brother is going), and New Zealand (where my friends are off to). Unfortunately there is no vacation away for me this year......although I could certainly use one!!!
There's a lot of love for the planet in this post......*grin*

Re: Infinity's
Yellowstone was awesome! not sure what I was expecting but it was so very cool. We really didn't go off the beaten path or anything, but still enjoyed it immensely. Our drive down through Grand Teton Nat'l park was similarly awe inspiring. We did the scenic float trip down the Snake River & in general brought home a ton of great family road trip memories!
Now we're back to reality aka the arena! Will has hockey camp this week & Juli goes to ringette next week so the family has been brushing up on our skating. Blah. I am not ready for a return to school and hockey schedules!

Re: Infinity's
Oh wow! I'm so glad you had a fantastic time in Yellowstone! We'd love to do that trip, although I'm saving at present for the trip to Germany, driving from Berlin to Calais in France then crossing to the UK for a week before heading back to Canada. Hopefully we'll get there within the next couple of years.

I know, except in this house it's swimming and Karate. Which reminds me, my youngest just hit thirteen so he can start his bronze medal if I can find somewhere close that does it. At the moment, my shortest drive is 1 hour and I don't fancy that in the depths of winter.

Don't forget to let us smarchers know about the plans, cause if you hop the pond, we'll make time (and trips) for a smarch meet!

@ Em ~ PM!!
@ AJ ~ that sounds like an amazing trip! I put the bug in Mr Calesta's ear about going to Italy for our 20th anniversary (2013) and I think he took the bait! We'll wait & see I guess....
I just got my kids back after they spent a week with their relatives in Northern Alberta. It was so nice to have the break - I'm recharged & ready to go for a few more months anyway. Now I am on a job search, have to find something part time to help make those ends get a little closer together if I can't get them to meet.
