Re: SAGE 2009 at Castlefest

I checket train fares the other day because for once I want to get hold of the Europe Special discount rates that are always sold out way early. It looked like this:

I could still get hold of a ticket for Thursday (friday is more expensive). The return ticket is the same price on sunday or monday. Decisions must be made...
(Maybe I should add that I checked the train fares to Aan's place as I know that he makes hot milk with honey at my demand ; )

Who els is coming? Any definites, any maybes? Kuno, we haven't heard from you here in ages.

I don't feel able to make a conscious contribution today, so anyone post here and I will reply tomorrow.

If any of you have a balcony and like to drink wheat bear, I can recommend the combination on a sunny day like today.

Coming here on Thursday definitely is for the best, as the most awesome day of Castlefest is the Friday (remember that it's a three day event); it's much quieter on Friday: hardly any day-trippers, but just the die-hard fans, and a huge percentage of people in costume. Saturday is the busiest day, while Sunday has the traditional finish of setting this huge wickerman on fire. I've never seen that, myself, but it's reportedly really awesome to be around for.

Well I have a roof terrace, Kuno. Want to check it out. :)

Yes the wickerman is awesome.

P.S. I did already mention I was going all three days, didn't I?

So, can anyone give me a short explanation as to what, where, how much, when and any other question I might have forgotten?

Re: SAGE 2009 at Castlefest

Sure you can come!

I have one spare mattrass and an inflatable mattrass. I also have some self inflating mattrasses, but they're not very nice on a wooden floor. But if people bring their own mattrasses my house is large enough to hold us all.

So to answer Kuno's questions:

What: Castlefest, which is a medieval/fantasy festival with lots of people dressing up (including some of us) check out their site for more info www.castlefest.nl
Where: Lisse and probably my place
When: the first weekend of august (dig around the exact date is in this topic somewhere)
Who: All of us. :) (Or as many as we can get there)
How much: IIRC the festival cost 30 Euro for a weekend. Beside that you'll need money for some food. It's not cheap, but very good.

Re: SAGE 2009 at Castlefest

*bounces*

I booked my ticket! Wanted to get a cheap price for once, so I booked it early.
I only booked the ticket to GET there for now, wanting to be flexible on time and place for my return trip. I'll be arriving in Aan's place on Thursday.

I think a day at your place sounds really nice, Sahi. After all, castle fest is a three day event and we don't need to be there all three days. I fondly remember the barbeque from two years ago, including the Three Rules of Skewer Making ^^

Re: SAGE 2009 at Castlefest

*splutters* We DON'T have to be there all three days? I'm not so sure you'll be able to drag me away from the music stage for very long! ;) They'll have Omnia AND Rapalje! So bring out the bells for your hands and feet, and I'll be sure to bring my Claves along as well so I won't hurt my hands so much.

But on Sunday it ends at 6PM, so we could leave early and if the weather permits it, have a BBQ at my place.

Re: SAGE 2009 at Castlefest

Haha! Okay, that's a very definite answer to that ^^

Rapalje will be there? That sounds good! Hopefully we can get Aan to watch the bags again, so there will be more dancing this time!
If I'm supposed to bring the bells, that means a jester outfit at least for one day. Hmmm.... *starts pondering over outfits*

Actually, the ninja I saw in the restaurant last time was really inspiring, I think. So easy and still so brilliant.

Re: SAGE 2009 at Castlefest

Especially if you make a ninja belt to go with it! :)

And at Castlefest I usually just leave my bag in one place (without valuables though) and not worry about it. It's just that kind of festival. :)

Even more..... I often left my bag with valuables in it (ergo... camera) and it always was right where I left it when I came back!!! But not on Saturday though.....(the leaving I mean.... not the being where I left it... *nods*)

Re: SAGE 2009 at Castlefest

Only one more week of painting and then the house is done and I can take out my sewing machine again. Can't wait to finish the clothes for my sister's wedding, I want to see if I'll have time enough for my other projects!

Not with the wedding clothes of course, you don't want me near anything that needs to be really pretty....

Oh and by the way... I saw a very nice second-hand s... machine (still don't want to use the word for making clothes) for 125 euros... Am going to check that out further...

Re: SAGE 2009 at Castlefest

So, if I want to come, I should probably get a move on and start organizing this.
I've already been bargaining about vacation days with my mother, as I realized only this week that she'd planned to be in Sardinia until the Castlefest weekend. Now we should* get back early enough that I could catch a train on Thursday night.
Which still leaves a lot to be decided, like where I'll be staying...

*should meaning: if the car doesn't break down, there are no huge traffic jams, we don't lose track of time and leave a day late, and my mother doesn't decide she wants to stay longer and I have to go home on my own and get lost somewhere in the middle of Italy.

Both hotel Aan and casa Sahi (and/or camping Sahi if you'd prefer?) have some vacancies left. I think we'd both be very happy to have you over, so it's really a matter of you deciding where you'd like to stay best. :)

Re: SAGE 2009 at Castlefest

That's what I'm trying to decide. Until I knew for certain that we're going to Sardinia this year, I'd have said camping, but since Sardinia already means camping (we own a tent again! Yay!), and I'll be pretty much coming home, unpacking, packing, and leaving again, I think I might prefer sleeping in a house for a change.
The mention of biking to Castlefest is also very tempting... I might even risk being laughed at for being too short for your couch.

Re: SAGE 2009 at Castlefest

FYI Camping is no longer an option. If we'd wanted that I should have booked a campsite already. All the good camp sites are now already fully booked. But Casa Sahi is available. :)

Aww! Magpie!
It would be great if you came!!
And don't worry about being to short for the couch. I'm too short, too. And maybe, if you lay on it instead of sat on it, you would fit perfectly :D
But there are many advantages to Casa Sahi, too: There is the rooftop terrace and good memories of Azkaban adventures. Why don't you stay at Aan's place for two nights and at Sahi's for the other two nights?
Or why don't we all stay in one place? We could camp in Sahi's yard (except for me not liking to camp, but still...).

I guess I'll just get a ticket for Castlefest soon, so I have to come, and leave the deciding-where-I-will stay until my brain is not dead from attempting to study and panicking over not studying.
