Meeting for lunch is fine. Could you meet me at the Hofburg? I'd love to see the horses in the morning. And that's from 10 to 12. My description: long blond hair, blue coat, and probably a black shoulder bag (large, it could hold a laptop).

Oh, and where Aan is considered not every tea is tea. :) But I've found a place in the city centre called Haas&Haas that he'll want to visit. :) (It was a bit far for breakfast, but we probably could do lunch there on saturday.)

And I was thinking, for breakfast on saturday, we could meet at the Hostel where Aan, xavie and magpie are staying. That way we can start searching for breakfast from there.

Oh, are you going to see the "morning work" ??? if you do, and you don't have your ticket yet, i'd love to join you for that, too:)
and yes, Hofburg is fine in any case(we could also visit my old Bookshop from there, or do you guys want to stop by there on saturday?they reopened recently and i hear there's nice bargains to make- and that's english books!)

Tea:there's also a very nice and sophisticated tea-shop/tea-house in the inner district(i'm a regular there)that i could take you to-it's Schönbichler- and it's also close to the bookshop

i agree- we should pick the hostel-bunch up and see were what we want to do from there, as it's central and we can go from there anywhere we want in no time at all

Re: February Vienna moot

Yes, I was planning to attend the morning work. And I'm planning on buying my ticket on site. (At least I hope they'll still have some.) And of course you're welcome to join me!

I was planning on only buying German books. (Since I can get the English ones over here as well.)

Hey Skurn, how about we all have lunch near your museum on saturday?

sounds nice, but i have to work from 10-18 and i dont know my exact work agenda till saturday morning and i dont think i can leave the building in the pause because we rather have "readiness for work" or "standby" than a real pause ...

but if you are watching the horses in front of the hofburg maybe i will see ya accidentally on my morning way to the schatzkammer ^^

Re: February Vienna moot

Well if you see a group with a girl with a yellow pennon with the text Shadowmarch coming through your museum, you'll know it's us. :) And as soon as you know whether you can make it, let us know as well. If you can we'll just pick you up at six.

(Yes, I created a pennon yesterday. And learned the word pennon this morning. I would have guessed vane, but that turns out to be quite something else.)

Tomorrow is the last day that I will be checking in here for certain. After that I have no idea. So if there's anything you want me to know...

By the way, I only have a mobile phone number for sisterdew.

Re: February Vienna moot

Just looked up specifics for transport into the city after arriving on Friday. I have 13 minutes to make it from the gate to the s-bahn station; if I miss that train, I'd have to wait an hour for the next one. :/ (Given that I'll only have carry-on luggage, and walk rather swiftly, that sounds doable to me; but still iffy, especially since I don't know how intuitive the ticket machines are going to be. (I don't assume Austria is one of those enlightened countries where they've placed ticket machines on the trains themselves, is it?))

Ah, but if I miss that s-bahn train, I can take the horribly overpriced CAT 17 minutes later, which should see me arriving at Mitte just a few minutes later. And then it'll be another 10-15 minutes from there to get to the West bahnhof. Or I guess I could take the bus, which goes straight to west bahnhof, but takes forty minutes.

Ah well, either way, assuming at least my planes run on time, I should be at the hostel roughly five to fifteen minutes after midnight. (Plus or minus an hour, cause hey, such is travel.) Did we still want to go do something together at that point (I asked before, and sisterdew was up for it, but I don't think anyone else replied), or will people be wanting to head to bed given the early starts most of you will have had, and shall we just get together for breakfast the next day?

xavie: do you know if reception will still be open after midnight, as in: can I get into the building? (I assume I won't need to do any actual checking in, but...) If not, can I rely on you or Magpie being around to let me in? :)

Re: February Vienna moot

Jaime, come to SAGE? I'm holding it at Castlefest, which is even better than the Elf Fantasy Fair is!

Aan, I'll probably be in bed by twelve, so I guess I'll see you at ten the next day. *crosses fingers that he will catch his train*

Here's some info on train tickets

I'm not sure whether we will walk everything or if we'll take trains/trams/busses/subways every day. (IF we do take public transport every day we can do those 8 day tickets, cause you can use them together for four days.

Re: February Vienna moot

Aan, the hostel is open 24 hours, and I've informed them that you're arriving around midnight. So it shouldn't be a problem. I think I go along Sahi's lines and prefer to be back at the hostel at midnight.

Sahi, pm to you.

Re: February Vienna moot

I hope I don't fall asleep on you on Friday - it's really odd, I stay up until way past midnight when I'm at home, but if I'm somewhere else, I fall asleep everywhere. ;) Must try to go to bed early tomorrow.

Re: February Vienna moot

Travel in August is, sadly, verboten.  I can take a day off here and there if I need to, but from the third week in August to the first week in September is our busiest time of year - even busier than November and December.

Maybe in the spring!  I'll have to see what fares look like.
