Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Yeah, I'm excited about that one, too! All kinds of good Tad and Deborah fun.

And of course the readings.... and there's a panel on Thursday called "Side-Kicks Who Try to Steal the Show," which sounds like a great way to spend a Thursday night.

I've been going around saying to everyone, "George R.R. Martin is going to be there next week!" And no one knows who he is! Silly people.

Marian, can I nominate you 'Con Director'?  You know, like cruise director, but Smarchier?  I still have a frightening amout of work to do and cannot spare the few brain cells I have left to contemplate these details.

*lights up* Ooh, yes! That sounds like fun. Because I have a frightening amount of work to do, too, and this is my favorite way of avoiding it!

I got a new coat yesterday.  I found my gloves, too.  I may actually be ready to deal with winter while we're in Calgary!

See you all in a few days.  Can't wait!

Re: Canadian Smarchmoot: Oct 31 - Nov 2 2008, World Fantasy

Gah, I just thought of the option of buying a prepaid card in Canada and putting that in my phone (as that will undoubtedly be cheaper than my own subscription). But found out my phone was simlocked. Unlocking it takes three weeks for some strange reason.

I mentioned this to my mother yesterday and she gave me a phone she had lying around which didn't have a simlock. But now I can't find out what type of Nokia it is. The only number I could find was that of the battery. :( (So I can't check if it works in Canada.)

Two days!!!!!!!

Kianor, I'm going to PM you with my flight info and phone number.

Here's a handy map of the Calgary airport arrivals area.  As you exit custom, there's a knife+fork icon to the left.  How about meeting up there?  Hopefully they'll have beer too.

I can't remember who suggested that sign for the Kassel moot, saying something like, "I don't know who I'm looking for, but they should be around here somewhere."

ETA: Shouldn't even read this thread... makes me feel jealous. ;)

Kianor will have a couple of hours to kill before I arrive, maybe he can put together a sign.

When I picked up Ylvs at the airport the first time she was here, I told her: look for the little blue car with a copy of Shadowmarch on the dash board.

As you're exiting customs if you go to the right there is a Tim Horton's - a canadian institution - coffee & donuts & such, the food kiosk to the left is a Jugo Juice.  You can still see the int'l arrival area from Jugo Juice, but not from TH's ~  Just to give you an idea of choices...

Calesta, here's the important question: which one will have beer?

That reminds me of when I met up with Manuela (who posted at Smarch only about 3 times, but is from Linz too) for the first time, we decided to meet in a bookshop, and the first to arrive would have to hold a Tadbook.

Neither.  For that you'll have to go up to the departures level where there is a Montana's restaurant or up to the food court level where there is a bar that I think might be Cheers but not too sure!

PM for you!

Oh, that would be nice!  I arrive a little after 3pm, and will have a couple of hours to kill (Libra & Sahi arrives around 5pm, and Marian around 5:30, iirc.).

yikes!  right in the middle of pick up the kids from school, feed them and get them to the arena time.   I'll see what I can do but its pretty much insanity for me at that point in the day and Juli has her first game Thurs night.
