Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Links

I didn't know who to contact because of this, so I just ask here.
Our fansite (Osten Ard Portal) is listed in the "Links" section of the website under it's temporary adress (http://ostenardportal.schlachthauser.ch/). Now that the newly designed website is ready, it moved back to www.ostenard.net.

(Also, if it isn't considered unwanted advertising, I'd like to invite everybody to vistit the new site and the forum. :) )

Re: Links

Hi Hekate. Thank you so much for the update! The contact would be me, or Tad or Deborah who would then give me a proper nudge to make the change.

I will get the links updated today on both the Auf Deutsch and Links pages. I will need someone to check the Auf Deutsch page and let me know how it needs to be correctly re-worded, too. I don't speak the language, but find my way around with translators -- not at all the same as a native-speaker! *g*

Oh, and no, it is not unwanted advertising at all! If it's related to Tad -- and especially if we link to it here -- it's part of the family!

You mean just read through it and point out mistakes? I think I could do that.

I should have been more specific: Not the entire page, but the paragraph where I will be updating the link. (We recently received corrected text for the whole Auf Deutsch page from Tad's editor at Klett-Cotta, so the rest of the page should be good now.) I think perhaps only a sentence or two will need changing to go along with the updated link. And maybe it won't even need to be changed, but simply deleted?

But yes, that's where I'd love to have someone else who speaks the language check it for me to make sure it doesn't sound too silly after the link gets updated. *L*

(I'm here on the boards for only a brief moment stolen from work; I'll be making the update later today.)

Re: Links

ah, yes, I was wondering, because I never noticed any mistakes on the page. :)

And i think you'll just have to delete "Frueher zu finden unter ostenard.net – ostenard.de."

*looks*

Hm, is this just because of my computer or are all the links on the Auf Deutsch page broken? They all take me to www.tadwilliams.com/%E2%80%9Dtheactuallinkadress%E2%80%9D...

Re: Links

They're indeed broken. Looks like they were copy/pasted from Word with its silly curly quotes:
<a href="http://www.hr-online.de/website/specials/otherland/index.jsp">
              ^                                                                                       ^

Mozilla developer comment of the however long it'll be this time:
<Mossop> run for the hills!
<Boriss> i can't, i'm at a local maximum!

Just Imagine...

Re: Links

Okay the stupid double quotes are fixed; I'm re-checking now & will also change the link, Hecate.
(Sorry about that, folks. I know about Word's problems, but forgot to clean up the quote marks after they'd sent me the latest. Thanks for mentioning.)

Re: Links

And now the link has been fixed & the extra sentence removed. I really like the look of the new site, btw. Very nice!

(Apologies for my delay on getting it fixed. I do appreciate the heads-up! Thank you!)

Thank you! (I made the images/graphics; it's the first time I made the design of a website. :) )

You did a wonderful job. It really is lovely. I wish I understood German better so I could fully appreciate all of the content!
