Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

Re: DOGHOUSE: Dawn of the Dog

How bizarre, that's the second Big Lebowski reference this week, my favourite radio show played Viva Las Vegas and noted it as being in the film.  Ren, go get it and see it, it is a seriously good film.  Mr Bridges keeps popping up in my top ten film list.  Ah, The Fisher King.

Re: DOGHOUSE: Dawn of the Dog

The Coen Brothers certainly seem to get the best out of John Goodman.  I can't think of any better turns in his career than in LEBOWSKI and BARTON FINK.  Same for John Turturro, although his part in LEBOWSKI isn't huge -- but, boy, is it fun.

That movie looks great, Bardem looks like he definitely fits the bill for a brutal killer.

If I had to pick my favourite scene from one of my favourite films it would be Jesus's bowling scene, it cheers me every time I see it.  I used to play competitive bowling when I was a bit bairn and the celebration post strike dance has always tickled me, to see it so beautifully correographed was a dream; I'm also strangely drawn to the Mancini dance interpretation of el Duderino's landlord.

Re: DOGHOUSE: Dawn of the Dog

By the way, I AM watching you all from the banner.  And I'm shocked -- shocked! -- by some of what I see.

Whoo, the things you all don't know about Stuart.  Man, the Teletubby pajamas I could deal with, but the rest...  I mean, hamsters AND accordion music?  That's just sick.

Re: DOGHOUSE: Dawn of the Dog

At the moment the view is baby stuff everywhere in anticipation, my purple SG (ok so it's a lookalike not a real Gibson), but no accordions which makes the music all the more bizarre, and I've just noticed I can't even spell choreographed, not sure even if that's right.  Spot on with the PJs.

The left hand yous have me fixed good and proper.  The right hand you is looking up wistfully at my bookshelves; specifically at the 1st edition copy of Taliban's Hour(sic), I just can't bring myself to spell it correctly any more, wondering if it'll ever see its creator again.

Re: DOGHOUSE: Dawn of the Dog

Every time I think of hamsters I think of - well, of feathers, of course, but apart from that - of the one we had in Kindergarten (the Kindergarten had it, not my family) - he was called Adam, and since my real name is Eva, there were endless silly jokes.

and sisterdew, only hamsters?

Re: DOGHOUSE: Dawn of the Dog

All my hamsters died or ran away.

Now I have a guinea pig, they don't try so hard to escape.

Re: DOGHOUSE: Dawn of the Dog

i used to have a chinchilla named rikki tikki tavi, he was awesome, but he died at the ripe old age of 14. I remember that my nephew was sad when he finally died. the next time he came to visit, he asked my mother if we could dig up rikkis bones so he could say hi

Re: DOGHOUSE: Dawn of the Dog

How many hamsters have to flee for their lives, Marian, before you admit that making them pull your car was neither sensible nor kind?

Yes, it's "green".  Yes, it saves fossil fuels.  But the toll in hamster lives and spirits is horrifying.  And now the guinea pigs, too, are your slaves.  They may be more muted in their resistance, but a day is coming when even the g-pigs will say "enough...!"  Well, actually they'll say, "Squee!  Squee!"

Woe unto you on that day, Marian!

Re: DOGHOUSE: Dawn of the Dog

"enough"? I always thought it meant "more, more!" ... that fat beastie used to say that when we fed her...

oh no. Now the words "more, more!" have reminded me of a rather disgusting story about pigs... shut up, brain!

Re: DOGHOUSE: Dawn of the Dog

Pulling cars, eh? Should tell my father that. He once said, "Guinea pigs? All they're good for is being eaten." (Clumsy translation...) Ever since, I've wondered what they taste like.
