Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

Canadian Smarchmoot: Oct 31 - Nov 2 2008, World Fantasy

Since this one is a little closer to now than WorldCon 2009, I thought I'd open a topic for it as well.

I'm considering attending, but could use a little convincing by other smarchers who are going to be there.

Of course Tad being there is a nice incentive...

I would really, really like to go...

Just don't know if it's feasible. It might be. Hmm.

I'll ask Ivo soon if he wants to come to Canada during this period, and if not, we could try planning this together, Libra.

Heh. Yeah, we maye should. ;) That's one reason I may not be able to get there. If we get a storm in the pass that shuts down the highway, well, you know. It happens all the time, closes our town right down.

That actually sounds like a very good plan!!!
If we're on time, the flight will not be that expensive... and the fees are doable... (it IS round-a-bout 150 euros right?? GAH! *is stupid*)

Re: Canadian Smarchmoot: Oct 31 - Nov 2 2008, World Fantasy

Yesterday the entrance fee was $100, but as we can't book the flight yet (at least the flight I looked at, didn't go that far ahead), it will probably be around 150 when we can book.

Re: Canadian Smarchmoot: Oct 31 - Nov 2 2008, World Fantasy

Well I don't know what last-minute flights would cost, but if I take a look at a flight that is as far into the future as I can get it (july 2008) it would be about a thousand euro. But it might be that october would be cheaper. *goes to check*

Re: Canadian Smarchmoot: Oct 31 - Nov 2 2008, World Fantasy

If I check the tickets for this year october the prices go as low as about 700 EUR, so it does make a large difference if you go in july or in october. (No big surprise there.)

Re: Canadian Smarchmoot: Oct 31 - Nov 2 2008, World Fantasy

Ah, I can't make any plans for october next year. I hope to have finished my studies and might just start my first job by then.
But let me tell you this - flights ARE horribly expensive in summer and will definitely get cheaper in october, especially if you book early. No probs there.

Well I have more or less decided to go here. Now I still need to find out if I can make it financially.
