Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Up. Hmmm. Up.

I finally have a day to myself and there isn't enough time to do all the things I wanna do, plus I feel a little sick.

How's you doin'?

You too, huh?  Where'd you go?

we went to caberete, which is about 20 minutes from puerto plata, which is on the northwest coast of the island.  we stayed in one of those all-inclusive places.  very nice. got very spoiled.  although we did sojourn into caberete once or twice.  and we rented a scooter and drove to and through puerto plata, which was VERY exciting (they don't have traffic laws, just traffic suggestions.) so we saw some of the island, too.

Ain't that the truth - I don't think you could *pay* me to get on one of those mopeds.

I was in and around Santo Domingo most of the time I was there, but spend a weekend in Casa de Campo, about an hour and a half east of there; drove along the seaside highway and through the sugarcane plantations.

I flew OVER Puerto Plata, though.  :)

actually, the scooter ride was one of my favorite things we did.  it was very exciting and dangerous and not like anything i'd ever do in real life.

i thnk next time i go there, i'll try santo domingo.  they say the sunsets there are BEAUTIFUL

OMG!  i just drove threw the scariest storm ever!  we were in vermont this weekend, and i was driving on those winding hilly paths they call roads up there, and this storm came in and it was AMAZING!  blinding rain.  simultaneous lightening and thunder.  fog.  hail.  i was clutching the steering wheel so hard, i threw my back out and was crocked for the whole weekend.  only now feeling a bit straighter.

*sets out some iced tea*

We did have a good time - we drove like crazy into the middle of nowhere Saskatchewan for my friends wedding - but it was a great wedding & party and then we drove forever to come home....

How are things around here?  Do we have a moving date yet?

Re: Infinity's

Sounds like a wonderful trip. :) I could go for a party with bunches of friends right about now.

No, no moving date yet. We're just a-waiting. :)

Maybe we need a party around here.... *sets up the disco ball*

It was fun to go back to Saskatoon - haven't been there since we moved away 11 years ago.  Its so pretty there - too bad about the winter.  And I'd never been further east than that - but now I've been to Prince Albert, Melfort and even Star City, Saskatchewan.

Re: Infinity's

It's cooler here. Much nicer. Summer is such a drain on my energy. Heat just does bad things to me.

Have you been getting any of the thunderstorms?

Re: Infinity's

I haven't been in one of the storms for awhile now...  but when we were driving to SK we were in the middle of a big storm, it was about 18C outside... and then we crossed the front - no rain and the temp went up to 30C almost instantly - it was cool.
