Re: Aquaman in danger...
This sucks major. I blame IGN - they trashed the first one of Tads and people probably got scared away. I read their review and it didn't make any sense, but too many people rely on their reviews as well.

Re: Aquaman in danger...
I agree most of the times with their game reviews, but not when it comes to comics. They have different people for different sections, and I don't like the comics section there.

Bah. Reviewers of any kind are sad anti-social things at the best of times. I have no idea why anyone listens to them at all...

Re: Aquaman in danger...
It isn't anything to do with IGN, and in fact the more serious comic reviewers have generally been fairly positive.
It's to do with numbers, and my personal disappointment and irritation has to do with the fact that as far as I can tell, this was in the works before I agreed to do the comic, and nobody told me.

That's incredibly disrespectful of them, and more than a little frustrating.

Re: Aquaman in danger...
From some comments to an article in that link:
But Aquaman? Man, this Tad Williams guy knows what he's doing! It felt like three issues of most modern comics in one.
I am satisfied.
Just like to pump the good vibes. I got the 1st two Tad Aquaman issues...read the 1st one and liked it, though I probably would've benefitted from knowing anything at all about the history of the character.

Re: Aquaman in danger...
it sucks egg rocks, it has been a great read so far, and the idea that you would bring in a new writer on a book you are all ready planing to axe is psychotic...it is made worse by the fact that it seems like DC has done everything it can to shackle the book.

Perhaps they thought your input would bring the sales back up to an acceptable level, saving the book.

Exactly. And this is why I propose you go down in style. Kill Aquaman once and for all in as spectacular a way as you can. And bring in those giant mutant sea-monkeys with lasers on their heads for the grand finale.
I mean, hell, if DC knew they were going to let the title go anyway...

Re: Aquaman in danger...
Fans would hate him for that though. I think having one very climatic event with tons of awesomeness would be better. It'd be like saying: "See what I can do, too bad its over...your loss."

Re: Aquaman in danger...
How'd you know about the sea-monkeys...?
Nah, I think I'm going for the "best issues I can write". I'm going to sew up a lot of dangling continuity, and introduce some new stuff so that it's there if someone wants it someday.
It'll all be all right in the long run. I'm not going to let it ruin my life -- some of the people on the comic boards are doing a good enough job already. (Not really. I've just been arguing with comic fans too much lately.)

Quoth Tad "Not really. I've just been arguing with comic fans too much lately."
I did notice that some of those guys are pretty rude. Never understood that, myself...it just seems counter-productive for everyone involved.

Re: Aquaman in danger...
Because it's easy, online. You don't have to see the person you're spewing vitriol all over; you don't have to acknowledge him or her as anything more than a line of text on your computer screen.
Furthermore, you can hide behind the fact that /you/ are nothing more than a line of text on a computer screen. Mutual anonymity makes viciousness attractively easy.
I'm sorry Aquaman's tanking, Tad. I can't imagine how frustrating it has to be.

arguiging with comic fanboys is a pointless thing, if there is anyone more dogmatic and close minded then fundamentalists its comic fanboys.

Re: Aquaman in danger...
My experience comes from hanging 'round fans. Usually, my daughter and I spend the Memorial Day weekend at an Anime convention - this year she's going with a friend (I was disinvited *sobs*).
It is rather interesting to see young girls, dressed like goth princesses, drooling over Kenshin.
