Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Re: The Downwright's Arena

Microphone - not to rain on your parade, but Michael Moorcock published a series of books with Swords in their titles. I don't know if there was a "Queen of Swords." Know there was a "Knight of the Sword."

Someday will find you.

Re: The Downwright's Arena

If you haven't read them, they are a most excellent read. Well, actually, I haven't found a Moorcock book yet I haven't like.

Elric is oh-so yummy!

Re: The Downwright's Arena

Yes, I have read them, and in fact own those in specific. The Corum books I didn't find as good as Elric, though.

I'm wondering if Queen of Swords is the same thing as The Queen of the Swords...

Our idea was to name the movies after tarot cards, but with our own suits.

Wouldn't the Major Arcana make for more interesting titles?

Ah. Piers Anthony wrote a series of books God of Tarot, Vision of Tarot and Faith of Tarot. I enjoyed 'em.

Re: The Downwright's Arena

I didn't much like Piers Anthony, but I've only read a few of his incarnations novels. :/

The third movie will be something like The Hanged Man and the Fool, I think.

The name Knight of Suns conveys the proper image for the movie, and until Moorcock had to blast our dreams like a nazi on Omaha Beach, Queen of Swords was a perfect title.

Re: The Downwright's Arena

Piers Anthony's Cluster series was interesting, as was the Tarot series. As for Michael Moorcock, I got confused and stopped acquiring his books. So many of the books have been issued in American and British editions, under different names, I couldn't keep up!

Someday will find you.

Re: The Downwright's Arena

Ok, now I've managed to smash all my fantasy characters and plotlines together, qoite by accident. There were five or so different stories, each with a slightly different main character at the lead... and then, somehow, I rammed them all together, and all the characters became much more... character-like and the plotlines made sense, and even worked together to evoke an imaginative story in my head.

This is not a new idea, but one I've blundered over for years (some of these characters are from the first things I ever wrote back in 5th grade), and now I have one solid thing to focus on. It make me happy.

The working title for this is Sword of the Slayer God, and it is going to be a graphic novel project. In theory it will be in 22 volumes, each with 6-8 30-odd page chapters, and the volumes will be named after tarot cards (continuing a theme...), beginning with Volume 0: The Fool.

So now that you're drooling over this, let me burst your bubble. I'm currently in the conept art stage of things, and I'll begin planning the story out soon, but I won't be able to release anything until sometime next year. I hope it to be early next year, but I don't know. 200 pages of art might take a while. I do plan to release them over the internet, probably linked to from my webcomic, and I'll keep news posted over there.

Stay tuned for more of Mike's wild ideas.

Hey! This place is still here?!

*ousts squatters*

No rent, no mercy!

Anyways, comic on hiatus while I work on other projects, mainly:

* Animating sprites (and learning the processes thereof)

* Drawering* Graphic novel rough draft and discovering I need to know more about greek mythology before getting too far (I may still be able to produce the first part)

* Going to school part time between working full time

*Like drawing, except with an er in the middle; pronounced draur-ing

What parts are available? Is there a Chorus? I've always wanted to be the Chorus.

Follow the hero/heroine around singing/narrating.
