Re: Gripe of the Day! The Rant List!

Okay small ranting moment:

Why are people sooooo stupid??? Today i had to go pick up a baby-falcon, that people had found in a field. When i arrived, they were pressing me to leave the chick there, cause it was "so cute"...They had found it two days ago, had put it in a parrot's cage and fed it cat-food...(which is all wrong btw). I even had to threaten them with the police ( in the netherlands it is forbidden to keep WILD birds of prey without a license...though anyone can buy an owl or falcon from a licensed breeder) before they agreed to let me take the little one with me.
But seriously...a falcon is NOT cute...maybe when they're 4 weeks old, but at 6 weeks it's already gonna see your finger as food...and they WILL try to eat it. Besides...any chick/baby rabbit/baby hare/deer/fox ( and almost every other animal)...that lie around in a field alone is NOT ( i repeat... NOT) left all alone...mum and dad are always near, keeping an eye on them. Do not pick them up and take them home...it's nature!!! Even if mum and/or dad is not around anymore...

Big animal ambulance frustration in spring/summer...all babies are brought to us and all we can do is either put them back where they came from, or let them die...because it's almost impossible to raise small birds ( to set free again) and it is completely impossible to raise deer and fox (also forbidden by law) and set them free again....

Okay...uhm...rant over...sort of...

Well, hey folks, nice to see you, and the new faces.  I know, this is the rant page, but I started it, so I can say hi on it.  Hello to everybody, but I gotta go again.  Been an interesting few months, and I've had little to nothing to rant about.  How odd!!

Don't you hate it when you're shopping and the person in front of you stops dead? And in the middle of the aisle so you cannot get around them?

Personally, I hate it when I have weird dreams and don't remember everything, just little bits and pieces, so things are EXTRA weird. But yeah, I hear ya Em... same problem with traffic, too.

*sighs defeatedly*

This isn't much of a rant. It's more of a... I'm done with getting fed up and needing to rant about certain things. Mostly home situations. I really, really, REALLY cannot wait to move into my dorm.

Re: Gripe of the Day! The Rant List!

rant #1:
The radio at work! I hate it! The most unbearable music all day long, it makes me want to puke! Gardener would be a wonderful job for thinking during work, for philosophy and stories, but with the radio on all day it's impossible to finish a single thought, even to have a real conversation, 'cause you can't understand a thing. And every day a different bit of sobstuff sticks in my mind, so I can't think clearly even at home!
And apart from the music, the stuff they talk is just as horrible! The news consist of stuff like, "There is a huge fish inthe lake at XXX, it has even eaten a dog! (Oh, and no need to panic...)" (And what kind of dog, anyway, I ask myself. A chihuahua?)
And the rest is things like What Did Robbie Williams Do During His Night In Vienna? I could scream, I swear!

Rant #2:
A few days back, somebody found a dead calf and it turned out it was killed by a bear. And now it's back to, "Bad bears! We must kill them all!"
Letters like this one appear in the newspapers:
"No sensible person could argue we need bears in our forests."
And hah, who says they're ours? Bears lived there a long time before us. And just because we developed the stupid idea of owning land, does that mean no other creatures may live there?
"In our civilised world there is no room for bears"
Now that's civilised! Civilised is what I call people who solve problems by other methods than killing whatever annoys them!

(edited 'cause I can't spell when I'm angry)

Ooh, that's a good one.

Apparently they are in the habit of only getting something like 3/4 of the number of books as the max expected class size because they never know how full it will be, and then just order how many more they need when they run out.  Saves them some $$ and causes the rest of us a couple weeks of catching up, just in time for midterms.  Great!

Re: Gripe of the Day! The Rant List!

All very nice that I finally got my contract - damn this bureaucracy - but it would be nicer still if they hadn't got the dates wrong! This apprenticeship is going to last until 2009, not 2008, damn it!
They already told me I've got to start vocational school in two weeks - the second year! The heck, I've only just started! How silly are these people?!

Re: Gripe of the Day! The Rant List!

Meh! I've had more people knock on my door & ask "Hey you wanna come to blah blah blah" and I'm like "No, I have to do homework" because, while I don't really have homework, this late at night is pretty much the only free time I have. And after going all day, I enjoy it. You guys aren't in music ed, you don't know how rough it is. You don't have to practice 3 (soon to be 4) instruments on an as-close-to daily basis as possible. I LIKE MY FREE TIME, DAMMIT! ... *ahem* ... Seriously, if I was doing something normal that didn't have me taking a full load of credits and requiring a bazillion hours of outside the classroom work, I might. As of right now, no. So chill.

Is that so much to ask? I know I should get involved in college life, blah blah. But... like there was a meeting yesterday about what all there is to do on campus, and I couldn't go to it because I had to practice, first, and finish up my english homework (which was horrendous, btw). I'm involved in tons of music stuff, so I literally don't have time to do other stuff. Gack. Now I'm just babbling & repeating myself.

Re: Gripe of the Day! The Rant List!

I can't bear it any more! Two or three or four of our "usual" family problems combined are just too much!
Problem #1: My disabled brother has been in a "whiny" mood for weeks or months now - always moaning about something or other, you can't say a single loud word near him , no matter whether it's directed at him or someone else, he'll start to cry (of course I've got a bad conscience then but at the same time I just want him to shut up, want to yell still more because it already drives me sooooo crazy because it is everyday, all day long!)
#2: He loves Chistmas, and usuaklly starts takling about it by the end odf the summer hlidays. Like now. Asking when we'll get the Xmas ttree, advent wreath, whatever.
#3: Me and my father - always arguing  yelling at each other, because we both get anhgry easily
#4 oh i dunno, guess there's stil more tangled up in it but I can't think clearly now.
The situation is thus: brother wants christmas, oer more specivficall, Advent wreath. Whines all day. Papa consents to make some kind of wreath. Brother whines because it's no Advent wreath. I hear whining ever sinv´ce I got home. Haven't got the nerves to try and comfort him, because I know it doesn't work anyway. Istead get angry though I know I shouldnt, won't be any use - "Oh damn it, shut up!!!!" Whining gets worse, because brother now hurt too. Papa - only one who hardly ever loses nerves around brother + always is nice to HIM gets angry at me for shouting at brother. Cause he's (I guess ) just as fed up by the whining but wants to be nice to "poor" brother.
Ends up with brother now crying aloud, and Papa and me shouting at each other even though I don't even want to, I manage to shut up walk awaay and now here I am, still almost bursting but no way to get it out, can't throw real things around, too late for walk etc.
I hate it so much. If we only could find a way to stop his endless whining I just can't cope with it´any more. Problem is of course we can't talk about it with him, he just can't talk that much oer as far as we know think about this kind of thing.
And there look at my spelling, I can't hit the right keys and i really don't want to read this again, let alone correct it, but at least this quik wroting had sopme of the calming effect of a quick walk

@Magpie - I keep meaning to ask you, when you say disabled, what do you mean exactly?  The reason I ask is because I have a daughter with autism, and I was just curious.

Re: Gripe of the Day! The Rant List!

It's called Russell Silver syndrome. Means he's very small (roughly 1.3 metres at 18 years now), and far behind mentally. He can write/read some letters but no words, but his sentences mostly consist of just two words, all strangely twisted (we say he speaks "Sebastianish"). Like a very small child.
Hard to explain really... if you life with him every day, you don't really think about it that much.
He's also got epilepsy, which is one of the reasons why there must always be somebody to look after him - he could get hurt, but couldn't get help for himself.

Well, my spelling proves I'm calming down...

Re: Gripe of the Day! The Rant List!

I understand.  About the difficult to explain part anyway.  Fortunately for me, most people who encounter Cecilia know, or think they know, what autism is.  I totally understand your frustration, though I realize it's completely different.

Re: Gripe of the Day! The Rant List!

Yeah, autism is one of the more "well-known" things, at least by name. Russell Silver syndrome though... I don't think I ever met anyone who knew it. Even the doctors weren't sure for ages.
Upmf. yes. frustration. I supposee you get it in every family, but right now it just gets too much, everything on top of each other, all tangled up... I'm just seeing a heap of tangled wool with my mind's eye, and i wat to get it in order, but I have no idea where to start. Damn it, relly want to do something.

Re: Gripe of the Day! The Rant List!

Gripe of the day.

Many specimins of humankind, and the blatant disregard they show for life. The time here is 22:15, and I've just returned from buying mouthwash at the 7-11 ten minutes walk from my house. I cracked a tooth and daren't brush it till I've seen the dentist.
On my walk home, I saw a baby hedgehog exploring the middle of the road about 50 metres ahead. Small enough to almost fit on the palm of my hand.
As you do, I checked for traffic, and angled toward the hedgehog, intending to deposit him/her in the woods just over the wall.
Queue 17 year old boy racer coming in the opposite direction, who deliberately swerves onto the WRONG side of the road crushing the little thing and coming within a foot of hitting me in the process. He then flashes his lights, presses his horn a few times and waves at me before tearing off into the night.
What the hell goes through some people's heads? The mind just...boggles. It really does.
I am seething. Nothing usually makes me angry, but this jumped up little sh*t who thinks it's fun to run over things has managed.

I would apologise for ranting...but I gather that that is what this thread is for.

Re: Gripe of the Day! The Rant List!

I am definately gonna go absolutely mental....

There is just no room for me in this house...my parents own the living room, my sister has claimed my mom's study....and that just leaves the kitchen ( which is okay, but no tv and no computer) and the computer room ( which as of today suddenly has a ban on smoking....)

So either i sit alone feeling lonely in the kitchen, smoking my cigarette....or i sit nicotine-free in the computer room...staring at a computer that is not mine...so i cannot play any of my games, cannot upload pics or look at my pics, cannot listen to my music.... And to make matters worse... there's noone online, so i just stare at this comp....feeling like absolute crap!!!

I need to find my own place NOW!!!! Or i'll end up in an insane asylum, or worse...

Oh and now i also have to share a bathroom with my sister, who locks the door behind her for every possible little thing....even washing her hands....well, imagine me standing outside the door EVERY BLOODY MINUTE...waiting for madam to finish whatever she's up to....
Arghhhhhhh......
