Hee! The last "month". I wonder if it will really be a month. Probably longer, I assume.

I'm ready, but, like Neemo, don't have my book in front of me. So I'll try tonight. :)

Ok here we go..

In chapter 50 Simon is still on the dream road and he finds Maegwin in "limbo" for lack of a better word. Simon helps her regain her sanity and in return Maegwin sacrifices herself to push Simon back to his body...now to me Maegwin's dialog makes her seem much older than she has acted up to this point...like she is old and wizened not a mid-20's early 30's character. anybody else get that impression? Naglimund is the 4th house? i can't remeber where we heard houss before can someone help me out? IMO Maegwin's sacrifce is noble and selfish...her people need her. but So does Simon...but Simon is a stranger her reason is she doesn't have the strength....strength to see Hrystiri suffer?

Guthwulf saves him and then Inch nearly kills Guthwulf...in turn Simon manages to kill Doctor Inch...pretty gruesome death too :D

The sword acts as the ring of power on Guthwulf...I know we've talked of it before but i thought it had to e said again...I still think that the sword is causing his fever...it has to go up and Guthwulf is incapable of that feat.

Eolair is really mean to Jiriki...out of character i thought but at the same time he lost the woman he loved so who knows what one will do i a time of greif..

the scene with Aditu and Isgrimnur is interesting..we hear about Ut'tuku from her aour first opinon from a sithi i believe..she seems to imply that the evil was spawned on regrets and losses...i dunno thought it was a different way to look at the motivations of the norns. but do they follow her so blindly as to all feel that animosity...I mean obviously they do but it is a weird concept for me to grasp. maybe the norns should have some kinda government instead of a crazy old bird in charge...lol

in chapter 52 we start to hear a more detailed version of Paedric' story...he's kind of a jerk to weaken the seal and go inside to live only moment longer...I'd be mad. and we learn finally who was following in the forest. so by Cadrach's story it is safe to say that Pryrates didn't know enough to contact Ineluki before Elias was crowned? so why did he become councellor? what would he have offered Elias? and why wouldn't morgenes warn John that his son's advisor was an Evil bastard? we also find that Cadrach has no control over his dream road sheild...it just exists

another theory to my sword-fever...he is obviously dreaming about the past of A'sua when his fever is worst..and Simon is Naked...inch is a sick little monkey huh? watching SImon die of hunger on a wheel in the nude...*shiver*

finally pryrates realizes its simon...i ask again, what happened to the bond between them?

and another sludig scene...yay!!

Yes, she did seem aged. Past her prime. I suppose that's what comes with losing your whole family and then going insane. I never really understood her insanity, or her sudden sanity again. How does one go from sane to insane to sane again?

[b]
Naglimund is the 4th house? i can't remeber where we heard houss before can someone help me out?

We heard it at Hasu Vale, where the Fire Dancers and the Red Hand built the Third House, around page 666.

[b]
Guthwulf saves him and then Inch nearly kills Guthwulf...in turn Simon manages to kill Doctor Inch...pretty gruesome death too :D

Yep! This part has all the flair of a Hollywood movie. :) The description is quite vivid, I'd say!

[b]The sword acts as the ring of power on Guthwulf...I know we've talked of it before but i thought it had to e said again...I still think that the sword is causing his fever...it has to go up and Guthwulf is incapable of that feat.

But the One Ring made its bearer immortal, not feverish!

[b] maybe the norns should have some kinda government instead of a crazy old bird in charge...lol

Yes, because a government is what keeps one nation's citizens from attacking another's. ;)

[b]
in chapter 52 we start to hear a more detailed version of Paedric' story...he's kind of a jerk to weaken the seal and go inside to live only moment longer...

I agree, and yet, this is exactly what we learn about Padraic: he's all about self-preservation. Also: why spend precious time trying to weaken a magical barrier (not even knowing what's on the other side!), when you could just dash off into a different passage? Especially when you have only moments to escape!?

[b]and we learn finally who was following in the forest.

Yep! And now I hope nobody will ever ask this question again: "So just who was the person following them in the forest? Do we ever find out? I guess it's one of the mysteries of the universe; no real answer, really..."

[b] so by Cadrach's story it is safe to say that Pryrates didn't know enough to contact Ineluki before Elias was crowned? so why did he become councellor? what would he have offered Elias? and why wouldn't morgenes warn John that his son's advisor was an Evil bastard?

I get the impression that Elias was mainly at Meremund, out of the line of sight of Morgenes. By the time the new prince's advisor was noticed, it was too late, and he was already deeply involved in the plan to speak to Hylissa thru the veil. Josua tried to warn Elias, by then, but it was too late.

[b]
and another sludig scene...yay!!

Hee!

excuses excuses :D it's ok summer months are busy months...whenever you have a chance ;)

haha Firsfron so true about the gov't not invading another country...Canadian gov't decided that it wasn't the best course of action though for it's citizens.

about the one ring parrallel..Gollum, Bilbo and Frodo all go a bit loopy when there is a threat of the ring being taken from them.

thanks for the 3rd house reference firs!!

as to Maegwin..after thinking a bit on it she prolly just had a moment of Clarity and would prolly still be a bit damaged had she regained consciousness...or the price for her sanity was her death...something like that

Indeed. Lucky Qanucs...er, I mean Canucks...

That's true, they do.

No problem. :)

I guess that is possible. Yes, that even makes sense. Not everyone who is crazy is crazy 100% of the time. The crazed individual might even be lucid for long periods.

[b]or the price for her sanity was her death...something like that

I'm not sure who would be "charging" her, though...

I'd like to be excused too.  I am supposed to be writing an assignment and it's due tomorrow.  Naturally I am procrastinating and posting on the net instead.  However, I haven't read the chapters yet (stoopid assignment readings!), so no big post for me just yet.  Maybe this weekend.

But before I go back to my assignment I'd like to comment about Maegwin.  Suppose, on the Dream Road, you are your true self, the pure essense of your being.  Any illness or insanity caused by what has happened to you in the physical world might not apply.  Well, I like it as a theory....  :-)

nice try, but she still thought she was dead when simon first met her, through he conversation with him she found clarity. At least how it seemed to me

Re: MST reread week 43 (TGAT ch. 50-52) - Spoilers!!

*has woken up*

I was kinda suprised when I read this thread a few minutes ago. How few serious posts so far - I thought I was the only one hindered and consumed by RL but obviously I'm not. Thantks to Firsfron and Neemo for keeping up the torch for us :-)

This should have filled the spoiler gap, so here I go:

Concerning houses:

I'm not sure whether I  brought this up already or just planned to, so excuse me if I repeat myself.

There are five houses:
Hasu Vale is the third,
Naglimund the fourth,
Asu'a will be the last,
Thisterborg was first.

Where is the second????

I like Charlotte's theory of being your true character on the Dream Road and the fact that Maegwin still thinks she is dead does not contradict it imho, Neemo.
Thinking you're dead while you're walking the meadows of your home country is plainly madness.
Thinking the same while you're floating alone and bodiless in some grey void sounds fairly sensible to me!

I agree that Maegwin  seems wiser here than ever before but her old self with low self-esteem is still there. Talking about Eolair: "and perhaps he cared for me a little and I was too prideful to see it."
[accentuation by me].

Even now she does not dare to consider he might have loved her ...

Isn't it an interesting twist why Guthwulf decided to come back to help Simon?

"You brought me food."

He thinks it was Simon feeding him so he feels obliged to help him, too. Of course it was Rachel and she was wondering why she did this. She decided that it was her Aedonite conscience but now - call it chance, destiny or very good storytelling it becomes clear that in doing so she saved Simon.

I love Tad for these little things!!!

Did you notice the little editor's mistake (yet another) in chapter 51?

Eloir says: "i will take her (Maegwin) back to Erkynland to be buried on the mountainside beside her father and brother."
[accentuation by me]

And there is another mistake just two pages later when Aditu talks about Utuk'ku and Ineluki "... that the ruin of the world should be brought about by two who were among the greatest of the Gardenborn."

Ineluki is a child of the exile not a Gardenborn as he is Amerasu's child who herself was born on the journey to Osten Ard and not in the Garden...

There's a wailing baby demanding my attention again.

At least I managed to post a few thoughts ...

Yeah...even though it is tremendously mean, i'm glad that that plotline is over

Oh yeah good catch...but it also plays against Simon's pure innocence and morals...cuz he lied i mean it's understandable he was dying an agonizingly slow death, but he coulda said so after being saved. About Rachel saving simon in theory...yeah again that is brilliant, i wonder if it was intentional?

I caught the first one but forgot until you posted ...but again you're keen eyes caught the other, I remember thinking Aditu's comment looked fishy but didn't place it.

I bet on it: It's not Doglike to do this accidentally.

She's six month now and weighs more than 9 kilo - I would not call that starving ;-)

I've just about caught up!  I've read the chapters and made some notes, but don't have time to post just yet. I'm quite embarrassed to see that my last lot of notes were made about a month ago.  We're so close to the end it would be a shame to flag at this point.......
