Miiru - I'm with you. Two stations have started playing Christmas music 24/7. *shudders*
Too early!
Someday will find you.

Re: Infinity's
Walmart had its first aisle of xmas stuff the last week of August. Our xmas stuff usually starts rolling in the last week of September, although I don't really start to think hard about the holidays until after Halloween.
I also try to have the majority of my xmas shopping done by Thanksgiving, in part because I don't really like to give Xmas Aisle Junk for gifts, although I will sometimes *supplement* presents with that sort of stuff.

Re: Infinity's
I did most of my holiday shopping on vacation. I'm just slightly annoyed by the fact that Christmas (as a retail holiday) seems to have entirely superceded every other holiday from September onward. Halloween? Thanksgiving? What? What are those? Sorry, was too busy hanging Christmas lights to have the Labor Day picnic.

I've a friend who is always done with her Christmas shopping by Labor Day.
We throw eggs at her house (s-h-h-h, don't tell her we did it)!
Someday will find you.

I know people like that. Annoyingly efficient, aren't they? Hates them all, precious.

Yeah - and they miss out on all the fun of running 'round at the last minute, being crazy, eh?

Re: Infinity's
They've started playing Christmas music at work and yesterday was the first day that it got stuck on a short loop. It took just over 30 minutes to start repeating. And it was all the annoying songs. *sigh* I'm tired of Christmas already and it's barely half way through November.

Aaah, the joys of retail in the holiday season. I do -not- miss it.
My sympathies, Flupi.

Re: Infinity's
No Xmas music here, fortunately, although we have Jack Frost on a monitor display up front.
Black Friday is next week. I'm doing the Orphan's Holiday this year, which means I'll be working that weekend, for only the second time in my nearly six years there. *gulp*

Re: Infinity's
There's way too much christmas already here as well ~ although I find that I am obviously the person all this early marketing is aiming at as I get home from the mall & totally want to pull out all the Christmas decorating!!
Must wait 'til after US thanksgiving though.
Went out to see Shopgirl last night -maybe it was just my mood but I found it to be one of the most deadly boring movies I've ever seen. Wretched.
Got the invite to the CEO's fancy xmas party yesterday (I'd been so hoping that Jay might be off the list). Now have to go out shopping for fancy dress. Yick.

I don't really understand what this is, but it doesn't sound good, so all the best Jamie!
@ Calesta - We don't go to the office dinner - not since they introduced the upper management song and dance routines anyway. *shudder* We've always got a previous dinner or a sick child ;)
I was wondering about Shopgirl - i've seen a trailer and wasn't sure, so i think that's a wait for the video movie.
I went to yoga and watched little snow flakes swirl around so this morning was all good :)

Re: Infinity's
Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving in the US (so named because that's when retail profits move out of the negative), and THE BIGGEST SHOPPING DAY of the year, involving insane sales and people who camp outside of stores starting at 4-5am and sometimes even trample each other trying to get to certain items before they sell out.
It's a brutal day to work - people turn into giant flaming brainless monsters with lobster claws that try to rip your head off.

Re: Infinity's
Was it black friday last year when the people were trampled trying to buy computers in atlanta or somewhere like that?
*shakes head*

It was in a Walmart, although I don't remember where, over a $30 DVD player.

Re: Infinity's
Ah! I get it now! I didn't realise that madness had a special name, though. I remember when I lived in the US we tried to take our children to the state park for the day. 3+ hours spent in a traffic jam of people trying to get into the big shopping mall down the road from our appartment. Total nightmare. Again, good luck Jamie, i don't envy you one little bit.

Re: Infinity's
I woke up today to a winter wonderland :)
I don't think it'll stay - there's only about a half inch of coverage out there and the sun is shining today - but it is beautiful. My two boys got off the school bus last night and stood there as the snow fell high fiving each other. it was amusing to watch them.

Re: Infinity's
Sounds lovely AJ! I have to admit I do enjoy the first snowfall.
Won't be any snow 'round here for awhile - we're supposed to have a chinook for the next 6-7 days. Nice, but WINDY.

That does sound wonderful, AJ. :)
*does a snow dance*
So. Who's been doing a chinook dance??? ;)
It's gonna be all warm and yick here for the next while, too.
*sends cookies to Jaime* I certainly don't envy you. I think I'd go nuts if I had to work on a day like that. *hugs*

Re: Infinity's
lol! I suppose it would be. Nasty chinook.
*snuggles up with a cup of tea*
It's warm and sunny here today. My grocery shopping is done for now and I still have GRRM's books to read. Sounds like a decent way to spend an afteroon. What's left of it anyways.

Re: Infinity's
It snowed here yesterday too! It was great! It snowed from about 3:30 on and we got a pretty good coverage. And when I woke up this morning it was all melted away. :(
