I didn't buy any milk at the store because the half gallon that still has plenty left for cereal had a purchase date of 11/11, which USUALLY means it's good for at least another day or two past that.  I figured I'd finish that off and buy another half gallon after work today.

...nope.  Totally sour.  Had to pour my cereal back in the box, and I guess I'll be visiting McD's before work...

Glad that storm missed you - I saw it did quite a bit of damage in Ontario, but by the time it got to us the winds had really died down.
I've had my heating on since the end of September. I'm a bit pathetic where feeling cold is concerned :)

I agreed to hold a pot luck dinner next weekend for 15+ women (Well, I say agreed, browbeaten into it for an hour before I caved more like.)I scored 'lucky' because my hubby is out of town.
Do you think it'd be rude of me to get them to confirm by email that they're coming and what exactly they're bringing?
That way at least I'll know if we're getting 15 salads or not. 
I've never hosted something like this and technically it's someone else's idea to have it, but I don't know if that means she's arranging anything or not.

My dad's off for his annual 3 week vacation to New Orleans on Friday.  Will be interesting to hear how things are for him...

I'll let you know what he says...  he doesn't ever leave the french quarter (even before Katrina) but he should have a good report on that area (and prolly the rest of the city as well).  One of these days I'm going to have to go there myself!!!

Sounds like you've got a sensible plan for a crazy situation.  I love disposable plates.  Not so environmentally friendly, I know, but almost essential for times like that!  We're hosting the Grey Cup Thanksgiving dinner & I'm hoping people aren't offended by paper plates.

I'm tempted to take in a new feline resident, temporarily.  When I walked outside this morning, I found a tabby, about 6-8 months old (still a kitten but old enough to be on its own) gnawing on a sandwich someone had tossed onto the lawn.  I know we shouldn't feed strays, but there will be no kittens eating trash in MY apartment complex if I can help it, so I marched straight back upstairs and got a small styrofoam bowl of crunchies and brought it down.  The kitten wouldn't let me get quite close enough to touch him, but I could get within about 2-3 feet, so I left it in the bush near where he was hiding.  I'll check on it tonight and see if he ate it - I've found that the ferals often won't touch crunchies, preferring the rich junk they get out of the trashcans.

My idea is, if he'll let me close enough to pick him up, to take him home for a couple of days for some TLC and socialization, then bring him to the adoption center.

I do NOT need three cats in a 1BR.  Not, not, not.  But he's just a baby, young enough to be socialized and given a good home so that he won't contribute to the burgeoning population of ferals out back.

I still haven't turned on my heat.  There was a pretty chilly day a few days ago, but it's been in the 60s again for the last few days; I just have my windows closed, and I woke up all hot and sweaty yesterday morning as a result.

It looks like I might have to think about putting on the heat come the weekend, though; when the lows get below 45, it gets uncomfortable in here.

It was -11C here this morning - about 18F.  Cold enough!!!  It makes me crabby to be cold.  Supposed to get much warmer by the end of the week though!
