Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Re: Max's Mansion of Moods

Nobody, no matter how suave and wonderful they are, or how hard they try, can make another person physically and emotionally well.  So don't beat yourself up over that one.

Someone who's suave or flattering or dominating or submissive or helpless or take-charge or whatever particular thing can often fill a gap in another person's life.  That doesn't mean that they are better than anyone else, just as a philips screwdriver isn't better than a flathead; they're just tools that fit different shapes.

Keep that in mind and you'll be able to think about someone who's a good match to your needs, or, for the advanced course, someone who can stand on their own and can let you stand on your own.

Hugs Max

I hope things work out for you.  It sounds like you were not too happy with this chick.  And not all girls are bad there are just a few that give the rest of us a bad name.  ;)

More Hugs!

Re: Max's Mansion of Moods

Yay for the job!  Give 'em a couple months - with the onset of xmas, you'll probably get more hours, and if you do well, you might get to keep 'em, which will help fund the apartment.

As a general rule, you should make the cost of your rent in at LEAST two weeks of work or less; that will leave you enough money for utilities, bills, and food without living on ramen to avoid getting evicted, which is just as stressful as living with someone who's making you crazy.

Re: Max's Mansion of Moods

Missed the utilities bit.  ALL primary utilities - water, gas, electric, trash?  What about telephone?  I'm not sure what PacBell or whatever the local company is out there is like, but if you're gonna work at Best Buy, you may find it cheaper to get a cell phone with a dealer plan than to pay for a landline (which is what I've done, because Verizon is just disgustingly expensive).

Do they want a security deposit?

I'm not being critical, mind you, just making sure you're aware of all the little expenses that sneak up on people...

Max, I don't know if entertainig is the right word. Seeing anybody suffer is not my idea of fun. I am having my own difficulties with class at the moment, and just need to take a break every now and then.  Hope things improve your way.

Re: Max's Mansion of Moods

Nice visual/physical mushroom trip last night. I think I was able to see the cell structure of the lense of my eyes at one point. Everything was in a blue/red grainy filter/grid that looked like I was looking through a microscope onto the cell membrane level. That was awesome... The lunacy was uncanny...

Still have more... wow... haven't purchased drugs in years...
