Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

It's very pretty, isn't it? The moonlight is so bright it hurt my eyes.

Re: Infinity's

It's the harvest moon, yes, waxing and ascending. Tuesday is full...

I love this time of year.

Oh! There you are, Infinity. Glad you're joining us. :)

Re: Infinity's

I love this time of year, as well. It's so beautiful.

You know, I'm sensing another story... Oh, the torment! Why am I inflicted with this curse? And why, in inflicting it upon me, did it not come with all the requisite componants?

This night, I see wings...

Re: Infinity's

Will you tell me?

I should tell a story, too. I should find the story to be written in November.

Orion's low to the horizon. He's always been my favourite, I think.

Re: Infinity's

Apparently Orion is upside down here.  Which is why I've always thought if it as a saucepan more than a big dude with a bow.

There's something lovely about him you know. Come and visit while it's cold so you can see him properly. :)

Re: Infinity's

Your favourite, eh?

Let me tell you a story about Orion.

Orion was a cat I owned. Truly, I must say that I've never come across a more beautiful animal. His looks were the most sinister I have ever seen on a cat. He was black and white with stunning amber eyes. The black shot down in a V over both his eyes, intersecting his pupils and  curved slowly back across his cheeks. People gasped when they saw him. Literally, he left them as stunned as if he were Infinity.

Yet he was cold. He never came around to being a poeple cat. He would allow me to pet him on occasion, but no one else could come near him. He wasn't hostile, just indifferent. Sometimes he would push his way under the covers of my bed and curl up with me and purr. But I still couldn't touch him. Always, he was just out of reach.

A short time before he died he came to me in a dream. I can say there's a logical explaination for this. I was still grieving over my previous cat and I was terribly disappointed in Orion's coldness to me. It hurt. So it wasn't surpirsing of me to dream of him.

In this dream, however, he wasn't a cat. He was a man. Tall, with pale white skin and incredible black hair. His eyes were Orion's luminous amber ones. He had black wings. He was the very image of a fallen angel.

He reached out and wrapped me in an embrace, the first time he had ever connected with me in that way. His wings curls around me. His presence was both of distant ice-cold wickedness and pure, true love.

That man became the character who has spawned the novel I'm writing.

Re: Infinity's

.....then he would just be an upside down saucepan.  What's the point of an upside down saucepan?  Silly.

Re: Infinity's

I've been working, and sleeping.

I have a story - my boss likes patting all the girls on the butt.

But he doesn't like me, because he stopped after two days.  Thank goodness.

Re: Infinity's

I don't think I'd like having a boss like that. Certainly, if he did it more than once he'd have to deal with me testing my karate skills out. But then I'd get fired. Heh.

Re: Infinity's

As long as he doesn't do it to me, fine.  The other girls can tolerate it or not as they see fit.

But he really doesn't like me.  Suddenly I'm cleaning drains that the long timers never knew needed cleaning.  I've been up to my elbows in shit and grime.
