Re: The Grand Illusion

I can't believe I missed Everwood! I'm such a bonehead.

So, what happened? Tell me, tell me . . .

Re: The Grand Illusion

Quick post since i am in Atlanta - Did you guys know that Madison from Everwoos is going to be in the new Rob Lowe series Dr. Vegas? It premieres this Friday at 10 pm on CBS. That is why she is not on Everwood at all. Although, the producers did say they'd let her go for one or two eps to do a guest stint. Of course when Dr. Vegas gets cancelled, I have a sneaking suspicion Madison might move back to town. :)

Re: The Grand Illusion

Everwood looks like Revelstoke. Heh. I thinks it's about the same size, too. :)

It was an interesting ep last night. Sort of a transition episode, so they can move on to new things now that the season ender-opener is sorted out for the moment.

That first statement may have gotten you skulled, back in the day, Calesta. :)

I can't find anything to watch tonight. The weather channel is on right now.

Gilmore Girls - basically a recap of how the season ended with a dash of forward motion just to get things started again.

Re: The Grand Illusion

*agrees with Seith*  I was kinda hoping for more from last night's GG, but I guess I can wait 'til next week for things to get moving again....  I did love the line "put me in a boa and send me to Reno 'cause I'm open for business."

Everyone is quite psyched that Calgary was on AR last night.  No one around here is even talking about who won....  just the fact that we were famous (and foggy).

Re: The Grand Illusion

Scrubs last night was hilarious, as I've come to expect.  Lost is tonight - what I've seen of it is pretty intense, I'm wondering just how much of it they'll let on network TV.  Still, it's quite exciting.

Re: The Grand Illusion

also agrees with Seith.

Other reactions:  somebody please smack Dean (as a symbolic smack for all of the other boys out there like him)  I'm also contemplating a smack for Rory - but then she maybe came to her senses?  Hard to tell and next weeks peeks could lead us in different directions.

Loved Sebastian Bach's aside to Lane about the guy adjusting her drummers seat! And the feather boa line was classic!

Finally, it seemed like both the writers and the actors were getting back into their swing after a long summer vacation.  The repartee wasn't its usual witty self and the actors seemed to fit awkwardly back into their roles.

Re: The Grand Illusion

Oh, and chamberk's posts reminds me of my current dilemma:  Smallville and Lost are on at the same time.  Which is also my son's bedtime.  So we can't watch one and tape the other...  we have a second VCR but it is in bad shape, so do we sacrifice the visual/auditory quality of Smallville or Lost?

He posted a while back.

I miss him terribly. He does show up at Guthy's once and a while. Last I heard he was okay, but it's been a while. :(

Check to see if you have a 'secondary' WB affiliate.  Mine shows Smallville Thursday night/Friday morning at 1am.

As for Gilmore Girls, spoilers abound.  How old is Suki's kid supposed to be at the end of last season[when last night's episode theortically took place], he seemed older to me, but I don't know if it is just my imagination.  If so it seems rather random since it would have been easy enough to leave him out of the episode considering it looks like they are jumping forward 3-4 months for next weeks episode.  Dean's wife seems to have gone through a dramatic character overhaul.  Last season she seemed like a bitch to me, but last night she was very much made out to be the doting wife/victim.

Good suggestion Pretz!  Unfortunately my local cable company SUCKS!!  Neither show has duplicate airings.

Re: The Grand Illusion

Another possible suggestion if you still have analog cable, is to hook it up cable->vcr->cable box->TV instead of cable->cable box->vcr->TV.  You won't be able to get pay-per-view/premium channels on the VCR, but you should be able to tune it independently of the TV so you can watch one channel and tape another.  Doesn't work with digital cable.

Re: The Grand Illusion

No cable box here - we go straight to the VCR.  However, we won't be sitting in front of the TV at 8pm - we will be reading bedtime stories to my son.  So, we cannot watch one and tape the other.

I know, I know, what am I thinking reading stories to my son when I could be introducing him to the wonders of prime time TV?  This is going to be a weekly dilemma, only made worse when West Wing premieres (if it is worth watching, of course).

Re: The Grand Illusion

Consider getting satellite, Haze. I have Dish Network, and they offer local channels (like your local WB affiliate) and "independent" channels (that sometimes offer WB programming) at different times each night: for example: 7:00 PM and 9 PM. Their new service even comes with a Tivo-like cable box that automatically records a show once you tell it which one you want to record. It's pretty cool. The drawback is the price: just a tad more than what I was paying for cable.

I watched the premier of Veronica Mars on UPN. The show has promise. I hadn't heard anything about it until someone mentioned it yesterday in an email I received.

Re: The Grand Illusion

Smallville season premiere...mMMMM new show to watch on a regular basis...8)
I loved the opener, was kind hoping they'd drag out the NEW Clark Kent a bit though. Oh well. And for once a show that had plenty of cheescake for the ladies. Yes you know it was gratuitous nudity...but hey, gotta keep that crowd coming back for more. Course the shower scene was nice cheesecake for the mens too...so everyone got soemthing...8)Very much looking forward to the new season.

-- Spoilerish stuff below--

Okay so wow, I really like the actress for Lois Lane. And I like the pushy personality, fits my image of Miss Lane much more closely. And setting up lex with a deadly illness, Father about to get out of jail thanks to the key witness having gone dead. Oh I'm really looking forward to the show.
...Oh and I particularly like the appearance of Margot Kidder as a scientist that work with the Doctor played my Christopher Reeve who was in love with Reeve's character. A very weird but cool twist. Unfortunatley I can't say that Miss Kidder has aged particularily well...8/

me too, me too, me too.

I felt like I had to remember to breathe in the opening scenes there...  the very beginning where he was running through the jungle & didn't know what was going on - a very well filmed nightmare.  It felt like I was watching a movie and not a tv show, but I think I read somewhere that the 2 hr pilot (that they've broken into 2 parts) was the most expensive pilot ever filmed.

*fidgets for next week*

I watched CSI:NY, too, I like Gary Sinise.
