Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Re: Tad wins Major German Book Award

Yes, I will be present for the ceremony in Munich.  This was the thing I couldn't announce until today -- see my earlier comments in Dogblog.

In fact, Deb and I will both come for the award.  Such things are few and far enough between for me (this is my first) that we're going to suck up all the glory we can.

Re: Tad wins Major German Book Award

Oops, and I forgot to mention: congrats to the German publishers. It's really quite a coup for everyone involved! :)

Plus, it surely won't hurt sales of other Tad books... Especially with the award being presented (on TV!) in November!

CONGRATS AGAIN, TAD!

Re: Tad wins Major German Book Award

It really seems Germany has its advantages! I'm really looking forward to see Tad getting the Corine :-)

But right now I'm even more looking forward to the get my copy of the Otherland radio play - going to order it today.

PLUS - Tad will be in Germany next month! Lucky Germans.

Re: Tad wins Major German Book Award

I would say some congradulatory remark in German, but then I  don't know German, so I'd have to use babelfish, which would instantly make all the german-speakers on the board hate me...

Re: Tad wins Major German Book Award

That's so cool...

I was reading a tourist-y intro to German book in Borders yesterday. All I remember is nein, janke, and mawment. No, thank you, and moment. Dunno why those stand out in my memory, but there they are...

Anyway, I should read Otherland all the way through in my native language before getting into something as messy and complex as a new language...

But! Hmm. So: either, "Stupid book!" or, "Stupid memory!"

Probably the memory.

Again, I should actually finish Otherland... or re-read the first book so I can remember how the Wiked Tribe talked...
