I was just about to say that. :) Also the premiere of Joey. I think that will be a good show. I loved his character best in friends, and i think a spin off could work well, ala frasier. High hopes. which means it'll probably suck.

I could never quite decide if I liked Joey or Chandler best... I think it was kinda the combination of the two that I really liked.

Re: The Grand Illusion

chaney or joedler?

I feel that joey really came into his own the last 3 seasons. He became less the dumb guy and more of a real character. To me he was the heart of Friends.

Re: The Grand Illusion

He really did become more of a character.  When you see the first episodes you really notice the difference.  Same with Phoebe, although she's just not quite as nifty a character as Joey.

Well, he is back to the dumb guy.  I really didn't like Joey.  I thought the only saving grace of the show was Adriane from the Sopranos as the sister, otherwise it was just bad.

Re: The Grand Illusion

I thought Joey was all right ~ they stayed true to his character ~ but it doesn't take much to amuse me so that may have something to do with it....  I'll watch again if it stays as good as the pilot.

I also watched Medical Investigation because I really liked that Neal McDonough (sp?) guy from Boomtown ~ but the show seemed a pale imitation of CSI to me, and I think he's not a strong enough actor to carry the show after all.

Then I watched the Apprentice.  Seems like there is a good group of people with the potential to provide some very interesting dynamics for the season.

*hugs new digital cable box that makes watching things in lots of time zones possible*

Re: The Grand Illusion

Been watching re-runs of Angel which is cool cause it means I get to see all the stuff I missed and get to understand some of the stuff other people have been talking about.
Just watched the first of the episodes where Angelus and WOW! I have to say David B. Plays an asshole well. It was fun ti watch him chop people up with just a few well-placed words. Starting up internal conflicts between the memebrs of the team...woo...can't stop watching now!

Re: The Grand Illusion

I did watch "Joey", and I thought it was fine. Watchable, at least. I was sort of turned off by the sheer number of tattoos on Gina (what is she? A biker chick?), but otherwise it was mildly amusing.

"Apprentice" started out good: It seems this year's applicants are more strong-willed and determined than last year's often wishy-washy flock, if last night's 90 minute extravaganza was any indicator. And we're already seeing some sides being taken, with all the girls apparently against... eh... I don't know any of the names yet... the one girl who has already flipped out a few times.

Good luck finding a new job, Fangler.

And good luck on the Medicine Hat CSI spin-off, Calesta. If they ever make it, I'm sure you'd make a lovely db. ;)

Re: The Grand Illusion

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the scenes Ren mentioned above, with Angelus locked in a cage, and still able to get the Fang Gang's goat, was really one of the highlights of the less-than-highlight-filled 4th Season of "Angel".

What am I saying? That season never existed anyway. How can one have highlights of a season that never actually existed? More to the point, how can one even discuss something that never happened? I'll shut up now.

Oh! Except to point out that I *just saw* some advertisements for the (non-existant) S4 of "Angel" on DVD, and, unlike the mock-up box that I'm sure we've all seen on-line, the version advertised on TV shows Charisma Carpenter on the cover: it's a totally different cover: green instead of the brown one advertised everywhere on-line, and showing the faces of DB and CC, instead of just DB.

I wonder why they would change it? Especially at the last minute like that. When they've been advertizing a different cover for... six months or so?

Re: The Grand Illusion

Garden State is amazing.  I love the way it was directed, the acting was superb, the soundtrack ranks up there with one of Wes Anderson's or Tarantino's... my only complaint is that some of the dialogue near the end was kinda heavy.  But I haven't enjoyed a movie that much since Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Re: The Grand Illusion

Apprentice was interesting.  The guy who was supposedly maanaging the girls team is obviously a stubborn twit but managed to look good anyway.

And why another crazy black woman?  There are plenty of crazy white people out there, they didn't need to typecast like that.

hmm...I missed it so I can't comment yet, but hopefully it'll be repeated before the 2nd episode as it was last year.
Same goes for Survivor.

The online images used were of the UK version (which has been out since April), perhaps?

Re: The Grand Illusion

What's with the UK getting American TV shows on DVD months before us Americans?  They've had season 3 of 24 for about a month now, and we have to wait until December!

Re: The Grand Illusion

Hey Libbette! :)

I need a bit of help.
I was right The Apprentice was repeated last night but being home alone with my two children I missed the bit of the programme you were refering to, I think.
I know something happened involving that person (sorry, can't remember the names yet) but I don't know what it was.
Could you fill in the details for me via pm, please?
