Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Yes, I've heard that as you drive north past Watford you find that people start struggling with numbers greater than 5.

It is apparent that both semantics and sarcasm are wasted on some people. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than passing that line on my way home each week, assuming you are referring to the more traditional "north south divide" Watford, with the gap, over the generally better known one!

Re: Tour question...

Tad, you wouldn't want to do a special signing would you? Say sometime between October 12 and October 17...as an added bonus I'll be in SF during those dates so you wouldn't have to travel at all!

BTW I'm just joking ;-)

If the British tour's not until 2005 then it's probable that I will be in France by then :(

Rennes is a nice place though...

If we're so thick oop north how come I keep having to come down south and doing your jobs for you?

It's a tricky one to pinpoint, to get your sarcasm *just* right...

I've never really understood why we have the two Watfords.

Re: Tour question...

Then why does Ohio have two New Havens? And two Londonderrys? And two Waterfords?  And two Williamsports? And two White Oaks? Etc, etc. The list of duplicate town names in Ohio is nearly endless.

It seems to me the town founders of Ohio were quite unimaginative.

Re: Tour question...

It's Ohio. Not intending to offend anyone, I promise, but there is REALLY not a lot there to spark the imagination. *g*

New York just stole most of its town names from the local natives. Half the municipalities in that state are virtually unpronounceable.

I do miss it. :D

Yeah, well, we have the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame! So ha! That just makes up for lack of unimaginitive names. We were busy concentrating on who was better at playing music :P

That can't be the answer. Not entirely, at least: Nevada has no towns with duplicate names. I've driven thru both Nevada and Ohio. Believe me: aside from the casinos (in two Nevada cities), Ohio's 100 times more exciting.

At the very least.
