Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Re: Tour question...

I'll be at a Borders in Chicago on the ninth of November.  (It doesn't say which one on what they've sent me.)

Yes, but you can pick me up en route and that damned horribly boring stretch through Ohio and *gulp* Indiana will go much more quickly and funly!

And while you're going thru Ohio, you can pick me up!

Hmm, when is the 9th anyway?

Yes!  YES!

Ahem.  I mean, very nice to hear.  Guess who'll be ditching class/work/lab/whatever to show up hideously early with a stack of books?

I imagine it'll either be the Borders on Michigan or on State.  *shrugs*  Or perhaps the one in Lakeview/Lincoln Park.  I'll find out in due time.

Re: Tour question...

Ah, and then drive up to Madison?  Bully good!  I've recently secured a good condition copy of The Dragonbone Chair, so I've got all of MST in hardcover now.

No, no.  Not really.  Just a slight detour you know.  It'll be like taking the slightly longer senic route.

Re: Tour question...

Tad,

I imagine you'll post your schedule here once things become finalized.  Will we need to search elsewhere on the site (special section just for that), or will it be in this thread?

I hope you're coming to the Baltimore/D.C. area, or at least York, PA ... somewhere driveable...

Re: Tour question...

Since all of Texas is south of the M-D line, it doesn't seem like Tad'll be headed there, Ren.

Or to Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, DC, the Virginias, Tennessee, Kentucky, Kansas, Missouri, Colorado, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, New Mexico, Arizona, Oklahoma, Maryland, Hawaii, or any external US territory (Guam, Samoa, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico).

Looks like the South (and Southwest) are out of luck. :(

Happy signings, Northerners and Californians! :)

Re: Tour question...

Wow.  That... really sucks for us Southerners.  A lot.

Oh well.  Maybe the tour for the second book of Shadowmarch will have some stops that are remotely near Georgia.

Re: Tour question...

That it does. Mrr.

If there are any dates/locations that aren't too awful a drive, I intend to go anyway, likely snagging Jaime on the way. Depends on the dates, though.

Re: Tour question...

So far, it's a rather odd and abbreviated schedule with several unfilled holes in it, but the trend is definitely northern and western.  I'll have to ask someone why, exactly.

The only cities on it out of my home area (SF Bay Area) are LA, Portland, Seattle, Madison, Chicago, and Minneapolis, all of this taking place between the 3rd and 14th of November.

Re: Tour question...

Whoa. Not even the Northeast gets Tad. That's weird. You'd expect with so many people over there, that there'd be a market for that sort of thing.
