Comic bijou (was by the smoldering bones of Kilowog NOOO

by the smoldering bones of Kilowog NOOOOOOOOOOOO

in darkest night

sweet Jesu i can only pray that this is another silly rumor that will go away, but deep in my bones it has that smack of hollywood idocy, the wrong headed morionicy that just keeps popping up.

And the worst part is a green lantern movie could, if done right, rule the earth. Personaly I would love to see one centered on the original Green lantren, Alan scott, set in the forties in gothem, or even a faithfull story of Hal Jordan, or John steward, Hell guy gardener or Kyle rainer would be better then this, this LODE OF CARP !!!!!!!!!

Ugh,...I was never a fan of the Green Lantern anyway so I don't care either way.

There are plenty of other series I'd like to see done up that I think would be better stories. Hell I'd like to see some of Garth Ennis's stuff as a movie, live-action or animated version of "Preacher"? yea-haw!

hell I'd love to so something with the Jonah Hex stories, that was an ODD comic for anyone to do, but had some good stories. I think Dark Horse took it over and did some series called "Riders of the Wyrm and Such",
Good stuff!

Re: Comic bijou (was by the smoldering bones of Kilowog NOOO

I read about this on another site over the weekend.

Soooo...

Are Marvel and DC like bizarro representations of each other?  Everytime DC is on a roll with movies (like Superman and Batman), Marvel pulls a Howard the Duck.

Now that Marvel's been putting out blockbuster critically acclaimed hits, DC gives up Halle Berry in a tacky Catwoman costume and Tenacious D as the GL.  What the Earth-2 is going on around here?

And don't let me get started on the new Batman movie.  Rumors say that Ra's al-Ghul is supposed to be ... a ninja.

Sigh.

Not a Ninja, he's being played by Ken Watanabe who was the Samurai leader from the latest incarnation of "the Last Samurai"
Supposed to be called "Batman: The Initimidation Game" and also includes the Scarecrow. I'm actually REALLY lookng forward to this. Michael Caine as Alfred...Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. GOOD cast....8)

Thanks.  Perhaps I got my facts wrong.  I heard from my brother that they were changing Ra's occupation and ethnicity for the movie.  He may have gotten the information secondhand from a person confused by the Ken Watanabe thing

It's not much of stretch, though, that DC would turn one of my favorite villains into a generic ninja.

Agreed on the favorite Villain thing. I was really hoping that they'd use Ras'al'Ghul in a movie and look Ma, wishes DO come true!
It's looking like a pretty good cast so we'll see.

Yeah, well, they turned Bane, the manipulating, masterminding, ultra-strong warrior who beat batman, into a crappy mexican wrestler. How come all my favorite plot elements (Bane, Spider-man's Alien Costume, etc.) into stupidity?

I'm still wondering how bad the Spider Man movies are going to screw up the Alien Custume...

Re: Comic bijou (was by the smoldering bones of Kilowog NOOO

Ok so i dumped this over in the neighborhood as a general discussion house for comics/ comic related movies in general, and as to that topic,

There was much wailing and moaning when Darren Aronofsky The Fountain fell apart and his script for Batman, year one never came to anything, well It appears that his next project may very well be watchmen

Speaking of Venom, by the way, I hope Raimi never makes him a movie villian.  It's nothing against Raimi (who I've respected much more as a director since the last movie) or Venom (who is an interesting anagonist --- I have all of the first Venom miniseries somewhere in my parent's house).

It just that Raimi has been doing a great job with the old school villains.  I've never really cared much for Green Goblin or Doc Ock until Raimi put them in the movies.  (Doc Ock especially.  I've never felt sympathetic toward a comic book villain before.)  Think of what he can do for the Lizard, Scorpion, Mysterio, or even, yes, Kraven the Hunter.

I don't expect to see the Venom Suit in the spiderman movies unless they REALLY change how he coems to get the outfit, other wise they have to do something like five cross-over movies, which while they would be cool...ain't blood likely to happen thanks to Hollywood not giving a sheep about comic book continuity.
Good example of this is the Upcoming Aliens vs. predator movie that has nothing to do with ANY of the comic books or contiuity with the other movies. The Original comic book episode with Machiko Noguchi and Broken-tusk was a MOST excellent story and would have made a BRILLIANT movie...instead the director comes up with some kind of cheese or another...not liking the story but I WILL be going to see it on 3 weeks anyway...8)
