Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'

Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

All the info from the old topic:

===============================
Just thought I'd let you all know that the date for the next Fantasy Fair is known (so the foreigners among the interested can start planning). It will be held from friday the 18th (only at night) till sunday the 20th in June 2004 in Lisse (the Netherlands).
For more information: http://www.elffantasy.nl/item.php?itemid=28
================
>is it a big fair?

I think big depends on what standard your measuring against. I think there were between 15 and 20 thousand visitors last year. Last year I saw Neil Gaiman and Robin Hobb. I haven't got a clue as to who will be attending this year. I'll try to keep up to date on the forum to see if I can find out more and will post it here as soon as I find out.
===============================
I've decided to translate all the info there is so far. Reasoning that it is easier to do it bit by bit as the info is released.
So here is what is known so far:

---------------------
Elf Fantasy Fair 2004
26 september 2003
Please hand in your old candles at the Elf shops.
We are looking for old candles and or candle remains to use at the Fair. These bits and pieces of wax will be molten to make torches for the friday night of the Fair. We can use every bit of candle wax!

Upon many requests, we will present the available information about the Elf Fantasy Fair of 2004.

Location and date
Elf Fantasy Fair 2004 will move to castle "de Keukenhof" in Lisse, not to be confused with "de Keukenhof" of the flower bulbs. There will be three days filled with music, battles, actors and authors.
On friday the 18th of june, the evening spectacle starts at 15.00 hours and won't stop until midnight.
On saturday the 19th and sunday the 20th, the fair starts at 10.00 hours and the gate closes again at 19.00 hours.

Program
On friday there will be entertainment in the evening as opposed to the weekend. Just like the previous years the program for both days will be roughly the same. There is no further information about the program, but keep an eye on this site for new info!

Entrance fee
The entrance fee for 2004 for adults and children is as of yet unknown.

Accessibility
Castle "de Keukenhof" lies between Amsterdam and the Hague in the flower bulb area. The way to "de Keukenhof" has been marked by boards along the road from all directions. U can find the castle on "de Keukenhof 1" ("Stationsweg") in Lisse.

By car
From Apeldoorn you follow the A1 over Amersfoort to Amsterdam. After that you follow the signs Schiphol and take the A4 in the direction of the Hague. There you take exit number 4 and follow 'N207-Lisse'.
From Utrecht you follow the A12 to the Hague and from there the A4 to Amsterdam, after that you take exit number 4 and follow 'N207-Lisse'.
From Rotterdam you take the A4 to the Hague/Amsterdam. From the Hague you can also take the A44 and then choose exit number 3 ?Noordwijkerhout/Lisse?. After that you take the N208 to Lisse. The road signs in this area will take you further to "de Keukenhof". The parking places are at 200 meters from the castle.

Public tranport
The exact schedules can be requested at OV-travel info 0900-9292 (50 Eurocents p.m.), Connexxion (buscompany), 9292 ov or the Treintaxi (cabs going from stations)

Bicycle
From every place in the area it is a nice ride by bike to the castle. You will pass several famous flower bulb fields. At the castle you can park your bike in a bike stalling beside the entrance.

==================================
So far the following people have expressed that they might be attending (or rather that they would like to):
Sahi (definite)
Kunohara
Relayquin
Aenwyn

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

I've already started on my costume. Well, if you count buying the patterns as having started. I intend to go looking for fabrics next weekend.

My costume

What it doesn't say on that site is that I also intend to have a staff (or is it a walking stick). But I still haven't found an address where I can find the right materials.

I'm also still looking for a design for a helmet or some kind of headgear.

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

So, anyone else actually coming?

I'm going to be there all three days. There will be witches, goths, medieval people, Tolkien fans, actors (Gollem a.o.), authors (Clive Barker a.o.), games, books, actual minted fair coins and much more stuff that I can't even begin to describe.

I'm also going to be giving a little show at the open stage.

I'll be there all three days and am staying at a camping near the fair.

Yalahii.

*follows sahi around* (sorry for that, btw.)

Well, too bad I'm not done with my sword yet. And that my shield still kinda resembles a giant bowl... anyhoo, hm, it's (for me) short notice. Maybe next year.

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

Well, the date isn't really great. I see the fair takes place the weekend before my exams start.

So... I dont think I'll be there after all.

I`ll help you go on a Porcupine hunt in August if you like. That illusive critter can be run to earth if you`re sufficiently sly and possess great stamina ( i.e be able to ride a bike over cobblestones and not fall into a canal or tulipfield ;)

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

*LOL* I'll be here in August. :)

Only two more days before the fair. My costume is finally ready. Pictures will be taken soon. I only have to spray the cloak to waterproof it.

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

Is it going to be at the Keukenhof again? While I always wanted to go and see it, it's a bit far up north for me, and without a car, that's a bit tricky.

Oh, and there will be a masquerade (a stage where you can show of your costume for prizes) where I'll be helping out. Also I'm trying to get the open stage organised a bit, to prevent the farce if was last year.

Re: Fantasy Fair in the Netherlands (annual event)

Copy/pasted info on people who will _probably_ be attending the Fair: (I don't have a link to a source, but I assume it'll be on the official website)

Terry Pratchett
Margaret Weis
Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy)
John Noble (Denethor)
Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom)

Heh, this'll be the second year I won't be attending the Fair, and the second year I'm not certain I would've wanted to go anyway. (I mean, Terry is cool and all that, but when he's stalking you all over the world, there's no reason to go to a con just to see him, and none of the others interest me very much.)
