Re: The Opium Den
I'm just following the posts! And you posted, so here I am! Hmm, but didn't Tad recommend that there should probably be a QM topic around so people wouldn't get confused? Ah well, I'm usually somewhat confused anyway...

Re: The Opium Den
As you can probably tell from my number of posts, I'm fairly new to the posting thing. So I'm a little unsure of the etiquette. Just thought this room might be the next natural progression. However if anyone want to start a QM topic, I'd be happy to follow along.

I'm honestly not a topic-creater myself. I usually just go where everyone else is. And there's people here, so I'm here too. :)
Love your colisseum! Weren't the Romans able to flood the arena part of the colisseum for little water battles?

Drawn by the "herd instinct?"
me too.
Although "Colosseum" might be a good name for a future QM topic. except it isn't exactly a room (!)

Re: The Opium Den
Hi, folks. Yeah, given my druthers I'd rather have a topic that's very clearly the Quiller's Mint successor topic, so people don't have to look around (especially in the Active Topics window, where this wouldn't be at all obvious.)
However, I'm loathe to simply shut a topic. I wish there was an easy way to edit the name...
Hi, Mookey and Brenda, by the way. I haven't had a chance to welcome either of you to the board yet. So, welcome!

And of course hi to Kristin and Elspeth, too. Didn't meant to exclude you, but I've had a few opportunities to say hi to you both.

Re: The Opium Den
Aw, thanks, Mookey! *starts handing out slices of cake* There tend not to be many people around when I hit my milestones. I guess because I can barely get a word in edge-wise when the QM is racing with posts. But this way, you guys get more cake. ;)
Yeah, we'd have to watch the Colosseum, tigers may pop up out of those gates at any time.

Mookey, you're going to Rome?! So lucky! Have fun! Do you speak any Italian?

Re: The Opium Den
*comes to, staggering around for a minute*
um, no, not a lick of Italian. My intention is to buy a phrasebook, and hope that works. I am a strong believer of at least attempting to speak the language in another country.
although my mom did teach me "Ciao Bella" (bye beautiful) so I can just run around Italy yelling that to everyone :-)
going to Florence, and Venice too. *wriggles with excitement*

Re: The Opium Den
Mookey? Mookey? Would somebody please wave a rhubarb leaf under her nose, please?
I'm only here for a few minutes, actually. A DBP, as we say. Deb is bathing the kids, but she'll need my help in about ten minutes to get them out, at which point I go from being a normal person to being the Connor Parent for the night. (That's because it's a much more involved project putting our son to bed than our daughter.) So I'll be gone doing that for at least an hour starting at 8, board-time (which is also my time.)
There you go. A long paragraph of absolutely useless information.
Hi, Marian. Guess who doesn't have a satellite dish on a pole yet?

Hey, Mookey, are you going to be in the heart of Rome? And will you have the money to have at least one good but not-really-cheap meal?

Re: The Opium Den
Oh, Tad, that bites. Not the parenting thing, but the pole thing. What happened in the Tragedy of Errors this time?
I was thinking what a treat it is to have you around at this time, so even if you have to leave soon, thanks for coming by to brighten our evenings.
Okay, I really did try to say that with a straight face.

Tad, yes we are staying in a little B&B right across from the Pantheon. As for the good, 'spensive meal-sure why not? Once in a lifetime opportunity.
