We've been posting here for, what, three years? I can't remember any inconveniences 'cause I'm far too accustomed to them now.
And I'm too grateful to have the boards back to start faulting them. Heh.

We need bulletin board software that makes it look like I know what I'm talking about when I post stuff.
That shouldn't be hard, should it?

So like a message board that comes with the paper clip MS office assistant or something? :p What you could do is just post in otherland slang, then half the people wouldn't understand you clearly and think because of that you must be ultimately wise (works for over wordy philosophers).

Re: Shadowmarch Community v2.0
I was thinking we could just randomly annotate all of Tad's posts with cf.'s and ibid.'s and so forth. We can also throw in the occasional: "I'd like to thank [random board member] for helping refine my thinking on this topic through many informative conversations. Any remaining confusions are, regrettably, my own."
Just think how knowledgable Tad would sound. I, for one, would be driven mad; I read every footnote. But that's just a cost of doing business, I suppose.

We could set up a rotating schedule for that reference; or have contests to see who gets to be Tad's Inspiring Conversation Partner of the Month.
Extra points for obscure references, too.

Re: Shadowmarch Community v2.0
Can we incorporate complex and irrational numbers into our postcounts while we're at it? I personally would like to have e^3.6 + sqrt(pi)*i posts. That would be awesome.
Seriously, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before. In the review of the thread below a reply page, can it automatically direct to the last page/post? Would make life much better....

Re: Shadowmarch Community v2.0
the board colours should remain as they are.
but that could be difficult with a new provider maybe...
letīs try to keep it smarchlike at least, so no khaki/turquoise script on red/green blinking background, at least...

Re: Shadowmarch Community v2.0
I agree (as I think most Smarchers do), that the basic board design and style should be kept. The layout is very eye friendly and relatively uncluttered. Minor cleanups might be helpful of course.
I'm especially happy that there are no Avatars on this board. The lack of graphical smileys is something I like as well, though probably for no good reason ;)

why not? We could totally do, like, disco fridays or something...
Seriously though, the color scheme works. It's part of the addiction somehow.

See, I like avatars and smileys(but just plain ones, not the yellow kind). They just let you inject more personality, I feel :)

Re: Shadowmarch Community v2.0
agreed. no avatars, no animated images... and smarchers addicted to beige and orange things because of the boards...
also the basic reply options at the reply screen and the plain overal design ARE smarch. form and content merge into this genuine smarch feeling that is beyond any rational description. but who needs that? we know of our weirdness, and we know who we are!

I would say that the people who populate the boards are smarch, not the board itself.
Having said that, I don't mind the current layout :)

Re: Shadowmarch Community v2.0
Well it should be pretty easy to keep the same feel and some most of the graphics with a new board, they are really customizable. I agree with no smileys, I like textual ones better, and you don't get random notations getting smilified. Avatars I'm so so about, but like how this board is cleaning without. I'm on one board with tons of custom smilies and that is fun, but i think smarch should stay relatively what it is.
I mean colorwise it has to fit the rest of the site, so there shouldn't be any major worries. ;)

Oh, yes, keep the color scheme. And no smileys! Nononono! What would I do without my texty-smiley-thingies?!
