Just finished Otherland...
Hi,
This week I finished the Otherland saga, and it is such an unbelievably marvelous great good story!! (sorry) It is the best book (all four together) I have ever read, and has jumped to the top of my all time favorite list.
Thank you Tad, for enchanting me with this beautiful tale.
I want to read another Tad-book right away, but wonder where to start. Which book do you guys advise? Everybody here is reading MS&T, but I think I will wait a bit for that one, because it is quite long & expensive. Should Tailchaser's Song be a good start?

I guess Tailchaser's Song would be a good start, as it was his first book. MS&T is great, in my opinion even better than Otherland. He's also written Caliban's Hour and Child of an Ancient City, both of which are very good as well. He's written some short stories, but I haven't read any of them, so I can't really say anything about them.
Have you read any of the Shadowmarch story? That's also worth a read...

I think Prowler'll have to wait for that one to be released in a physical edition now.
I'd suggest going for 'Tailchaser's Song', but be warned that most of Tad's books are very different from each other so if you're expecting a facsimile of Otherland you may be disappointed :)
MS&T is probably my favourite also, so if you can summon the time and money definitely give it a try.

Tailchaser's Song is a fun short little thing that goes down easily. Kind of like a tiny but tasty snack, in comparison to the grand feasts offered by MS&T and Otherland. I'm currently rereading MS&T right now and it is, of course, amazing. The thought of rereading Otherland is creeping up on me...

Ok, thanx: i think i'll read Tailchasers Song then. I believe Shadowmarch will be great too, but I don't want to read the first few episode and not be able to read on (I bought all the Otherland books at the same time too). So I'll wait for that one until it is in stores.
I also really want to read MS&T; but first things first!
(I am not a person who reads 10 books at a time)

Hi. Just thought I'd note here that I've just mailed out (electronically, at this point) the final draft of WAR OF THE FLOWERS. Which means I can get back to SHADOWMARCH, both rewriting what's been done so far to make it work better in book form (and probably to add a few details, too...) and thinking about what's to come in volumes two and three.
But first I'm going to take a few days off from writing after about 18 months of doing it pretty much every day (yes, including holidays.) Well, after I put together the additional material for WotF -- indexes, author's note, etc. But that won't be more than a day's work.
It's a good job. But I need a day or two off. I'll be able to visit here again, too. That would be nice.

I think you certainly deserve a vacation Tad! Have fun!
I don't think I'll get MS&T in the library, I want to own the books, and I'd rather read my own book if I'm going to buy it anyway. Don't worry; I'll make the time for MS&T. Just not everything at once ;-) (I've already got an enormous list of books still to read).

I know that problem. :) But there have been lots of books I've read that I didn't own. I've borrowed from the library and my parents. I simply don't have the money to buy all the books I want right this minute.

If you buy all the books at the same time, I'd like to see you read Robert Jordan's 'Wheel of Time' series. Well over £50 just for the paperbacks!

I'm telling ya, Temple of the Dog here we come! Or the Cult of Dog, whatever works...8)
And having just finished Otherland and not too long before that MST I think I need to take a break form Tad books...8P Now I have to find copies of the rest to read them, or re-read in the case of Tailchaser's Song.
