Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Tad Signings

I think it was Kim (Sadalian) who suggested that those of us who had Tad sign books for us post what he said in them. We caught him toward the end of his signing session and he was starting to get a little silly. I'll start it off.

Tad said:

For Rajan -
from Isaac Asimov
oops! I'm dead.
I'll get this live guy to sign it instead...

Re: Tad Signings

In Tailchaser (whose cover fell off completely now):

"For Jaime:  So glad I finally got to meet you, Love and best wishes"

In my Art of Michael Whelan (which is now signed by Michael, Tad, Melanie, Larry Niven, and CJ Cherryh):

"I didn't paint this, but I'll take any credit I can get..."

I didn't bring any other books; I'll inundate him with MST and Otherland next time he comes to DC.  :)

Re: Tad Signings

In my copy of Tailchaser's Song (which had the inscription "Happy 12th Birthday" from my dad on the inside):

For Angela -
Actually, I wrote this when I was 12 or 13, so I'm not old.
Love,
Tad

Re: Tad Signings

My AP Lit class requires us to attend at least 3 literary seminars for both semesters. Book signings/readings are both considered literary seminars. Umm. . . yeah.

DAW Anthology:

Otherland:

My sister didn't get why I was so excited about the whole Con thing.  She totally got it when I showed her all of my signed books.

Re: Tad Signings

I had him sign paperback copies of Otherland for my dad - my hardcovers are already signed. What made the SoSL inscription so funny was the previous three had normal things like: "Cheers" and "Good Wishes." Tad got silly on the 4th book.

Re: Tad Signings

Are there any more book signings planned?  Trips to England?  I _need_ a book signed.  Especially since I lent my hardback SoSL to someone and never got it back.  And now they are no longer in my Halls at uni, so I'm never going to get it back.

Re: Tad Signings

*grin* Thanks all for making me laugh so hard! These are great... I want one!

On a semi-different topic, does anyone know if Tad will still sign books if you mail them to him? If so, does anyone have the address or a link to the website that has the address?

Thanks!
