Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
I was just telling DD that my nephew (he's 7) watches cooking shows and home improvement shows on PBS. He loves them! Victory Garden and This Old House are his favorites. He cracks me up!

*LOL* that's pretty funny. just how much of those shows does he really understand, anyway. when my youngest was a baby, i'd sit her in front of the tv with cnn on. she loved watching the talking heads.

He loves watching stuff being made, he says. It's really cute! His sister is 6 and has no interest, but he's really into it.

Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
that's really funny. personally, i hate watching cooking shows on tv. i sorta like the home decor stuff like christopher lowel, but don't really have the time to watch them.

Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
I watch a lot of BBC America. There are some really great shows on there that crack me up. The series Changing Rooms is lots of fun, especially when the people love what their rooms look like. There's a garden show called Ground Force where a team comes in and completely overhauls a backyard space in 2 days that's cool, too.

I live alone (except for 2 very bad dogs and a prissy cat), so I watch quite a bit :)

Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
I have a german shepard and a cairn terrier. They're both really sweet, actually, but they got mad at me today and behaved badly.
The cat is a rescue (I found her as a kitten, half starved and anemic because she had so many fleas). The cat runs the house these days, needless to say.

Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
In fact, the smarch community helped me name the cat. Tad came up with a whole list of names, some of which were flowers ( I think he suggested Daphne and Rose), and I chose Daisy. She's really cute, but prissy. And bossy!

*LOL* i know what you mean. i have 1 dog and 2 senior citizen cats. the cats really do run the house. everybody works around them. even the dog want to be their friend. of course, they want nothing to do with her. why were your dogs mad at you?

Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
I dared to leave the house today! So they ate the coffee cake I'd bought for tomorrow's breakfast, then busted open a box of cereal for good measure.
Bad doggies. No treats!

She's running in and out a lot tonight. She wants me to sit with her in the bathroom while she eats. I'm not doing it. She's pissed.

Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
how dare you leave the house! how could you do such a mean and thoughtless thing to your two sweet innocent angels? no wonder they punnished you. *is done with the sarcasm now.*

Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
LOL - I know! They'll get the opportunity to boss me all day tomorrow to make up for it. When I do yard work they all follow me (including the cat) while I mow, weed, and water. It's pretty funny.
And "stop bossing me!" is my idea of a dog command!

the older of my 2 cats likes to sit on my lap while i'm online. she has learned that i sit still for long periods of time when i do this. she gets lots of scratches and pets. no fool is she.

Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
Daisy tries that, too, but she lays on one arm so I can't type. Then we fight, she bites me and jumps down, then glares at me until I invite her to come back up.
Rewind. Start again.
I get bitten and swatted quite a bit.

Oh, God, that was funny. Daisy wasn't comfy with strangers and DD was trying to give her plenty of space. The cat jumped up onto the keyboard tray to get petted and DD said, "Hello" and Daisy froze. Then she disappeared for a while.

Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
my cats are so old, they don't do much at all. they just live to be fed and petted. and everyone in the house is so willing to comply with their wishes that they actualy think this is the way life is. they hardly move. in the animal kindgom, i once told the story about a small bird that came to live with us for a short time. that bird was lose in the house many times. my cats never even noticed it.

Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
We had a cat when I was a kid that came when my mom yelled "Fat Cat!" He was an enormous siamese.
I think his real name was Puma, but we always called him Fat Cat. He spent a lot of time looking for the best sunny spot to stretch out in.

Re: QM - Sledgehammer Room
speaking of funny names for cats, we once had a cat that had been shot in the right shoulder, and we had to have her front leg amputated. (okay, so that part's not funny) but while she wore that stupid plastic coller to prevent her from bitting the stitches, we called her Radio Moscow. and after the coller came off, we called her Tripod. i cannot remember her real name at all. but she came to whatever name you called her, as long as you made the mmpptt sound first. edited to fix spelling
