Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Re: The Grand Illusion (fangler & jaded)

it wasn't meant to be a one big jab, honest. i did mean to tease you about the calendar, but it was only a tease since i know you don't have everything yet. as for the innocent idea, well you threatened to boycott us. what was i supposed to do?

Re: The Grand Illusion (fangler & jaded)

*saunters into theater*

*ascends stage*

*poses momentarily in stage lights to accenuate long sequined transparent red gown*

*sings*

An old man turned ninety-eight
He won the lottery and died the next day
It's a black fly in your Chardonnay
It's a death row pardon two minutes too late
Isn't it ironic... don't you think?

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Mr. Play It Safe was afraid to fly
He packed his suitcase and kissed his kids goodbye
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight
And as the plane crashed down he thought
"Well isn't this nice..."
And isn't it ironic... don't you think?

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Well life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out when
You think everything's gone wrong and everything blows up
In your face

A traffic jam when you're already late
A no-smoking sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife
And isn't it ironic... don't you think?
A little too ironic... and yeah I really do think...

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

Life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
Life has a funny, funny way of helping you out
Helping you out

<Ironic.. Alanis Morisette>

*departs from stage*

*trips on tail of gorgeous gown and falls flat on face*

Ouch!

's what I get for singing that song!

You enlist the help of a friendly Mantis.

That may rule me out...

Pshaw, Bets :)

What she said. Let a Mantis know when you're ready for the next one & it'll be done as you wish. You may want to keep copies of this one, too, 'cause the old spaces get deleted.

(Ack. That reminds me...
*runs over to take care of old LLLoung housecleaning* ;)

Re: The Grand Illusion (fangler & jaded)

okay, a buck short and a week late, but i rented and watched moulin rouge this weekend.

synopsis: it sucks.

it just didn't work for me...the storyline was too jumpy, the camera work i didn't like, and it was generally way too fake to capture the supposed gravity of the situation and outcome. i didn't find it funny, or entertaining, or romantic, or anything other than a boring waste of my time and money.

and i might never recover from hearing nirvana done that way...

*shudders*

we also rented some other movies, which went over better with me: atlantis, o, and kiss of the dragon...

Re: The Grand Illusion (fangler & jaded)

so...fangler...let's talk shop...

i don't think we really have anything here needing to be saved...we can incorporate the intros and repost them, and that's really it. my random poetry-type stuff i have saved elsewhere, and i don't think we really need keep anything else...? maybe dart's going bananas number, for posterity...

:D

well, that's just what i was trying to get at...there's not much to be sentimental about...our movie discussions aren't worth saving, in my opinion...

okay. dart's song will be saved. yay! and i am sorry you didn't like moulin rouge, jaded. And to further inflame you, it was just honored with best picture by the Producer's Guild. Which, of the last 13, oscars, has correctly predicted who would get best picture. But i doubt it will get that. :)

Okay, ready for lock-down?

(The locked room can stay in the list for a few days so you can finish copying/archiving if you need to.)
