Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

No fingerprints on these ones here.

(I ate those myself earlier...well, I wouldn't want to waste, now would I?)

Re: Quiller's Mint -- the Roof Garden

OK, I am a little mad now.  Just tried to subscribe with the user name gold_penguin, and it said it had already been taken!

Tad, I demand you give me the name of the miscreant who has done this, so I can go round and do nasty things to them!

How rude!

Libbette, I'm going to have to stay tonight till you reach your next Very Important Post Number.

So don't go away before then! I'll be waiting here all night with a handful of confetti!

No-one will watch, I promise.  Unless you want them to.  What kind of dancing would you be most comfortable with?

Re: Quiller's Mint -- the Roof Garden

GP, are you sure you're not running into your own earlier attempt to sign up, or the beginning of the process?  I haven't been through this whole thing myself lately, but I know that other people have had a problem like that and it turned out they had put their own name sort of "on hold".

I can pretty much assure you no one else has taken that name.

Re: Quiller's Mint -- the Roof Garden

Yeah I know there are heaps of names I could use, and already have used another one in fact.

However, I demand satisfaction.  I will hunt down the villain who has stolen what is mine, and make them pay!  Pay I tell you!

No you're right, I don't really care, it's just that mostly I get that name to myself whenever I sign up anywhere, so it is a shock when someone else already has it.

Oh, yeah, I come from sunny Canberra in Australia.  You know, the capital city.

Actually, any dancing, as long as it's virtual, would be fine....hmmm, let's see...I used to do a mean soft shoe back in 4th grade tap dance class...

Re: Quiller's Mint -- the Roof Garden

Damn you Tad, for pointing out my folly.  I guess I am my own worst enemy.

However, I can assure myself that I will be giving myself a severe pounding when I get home tonight.  As I said, I demand satisfaction.

Re: Quiller's Mint -- the Roof Garden

GP, I swear to gawd no one else has that name.  I'll even look it up for you tomorrow to make sure -- Deb's got all the PayPal information on her computer and I can't look it up without going through a huge hassle, including going offline myself.  But I'm certain you're running into something you put there yourself.

Think about it: it's a perfectly nice name, but you've had it on the bulletin board for several weeks and no one has been overcome by paroxysms of jealousy that we know of.  What are the odds someone was just lying back in the weeds waiting to steal it from you?

Oops, did I crosspost with El Penguino?  Does that mean you've ascertained the cause?  That you have met the enemy and it is You?
