Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

Re: DOGBLOG: Watershed. (Not Miiru's shed.)

Man, it's been a while since I've been here. School and such has been keeping me busy, not to mention I usually sleep twice as long as I should.

Now I'll probably sleep three times as long with the writers strike, meaning not as much to watch on TV. I really have no idea if they deserve the increase in pay or not, because I haven't been following that sort of thing. If they do deserve it then, then I hope the strike works.

Re: DOGBLOG: Watershed. (Not Miiru's shed.)

Well usually when people are willing to strike they have a reason. (Cause, let's face it: would you go on a strike if the wages they were paying you afforded easy living?)

Re: DOGBLOG: Watershed. (Not Miiru's shed.)

I think the reasoning for the strike is that the writers aren't getting anything for any "new media" outlets (mostly internet related) and the higher-ups never spontaneously give more money out of the goodness of their hearts.  Hit them in the wallet and they'll listen.

This strike actually caused my brother to move back east from LA, where he was beginning to get involved in writing circles out there.  It doubtless changed his entire future.

Re: DOGBLOG: Watershed. (Not Miiru's shed.)

Info on Strike Here

Hope that all helps the confusion. It's rumored this will be worse then the 1988 strike that lasted over 20 or so weeks. Not good news for viewers.

Nope no sleep. And we've bumped you up to thirty-six hour work days. Oh, and no more eating on the job. You'll have to wait till your day off to eat. Which is every third sunday.

Re: DOGBLOG: Watershed. (Not Miiru's shed.)

The Hilarious Thing about the writer's strike is that most people are more concerned about how there's not going to be a full season of the shows they watch, and not about those who write the shows themselves.

"Oh noes!!!!! We're not going to get a full season of Lost?!?!?"

And on the subject of visitations, I live in Albuquerque (al-bee-kway-kway), so I should be first. Anywhere he goes to afterwards he can make the hilarious observation, "Musta taken the wrong turn at Albuquerque!"

Re: DOGBLOG: Watershed. (Not Miiru's shed.)

What I can't figure out is how you have to put talk shows into re-run during the writers' strike.  Admittedly, comedy bits, monologues, etc., are a part of most of these shows, but does a professional comedian/host like Leno, Letterman, or Conan O'Brien really not have the skill to come out, make a few off-the-cuff remarks, and interview some other celebrities sitting on a couch unless a writer is involved?

I mean, I value my profession, but sheesh.  I know I could wing a talk show on my own if I had to, couldn't they?
