Heh, same here. Yesterday I bought a lovely new winter coat. *does a happy dance*
Hey, cyan do you still have the link to that packing list I put up somewhere? If you see anything missing, please let me know. :) I think I'm going to start packing this weekend.

I won't be there Wednesday night, but you can count on me to have the camera out for the rest of the Con. I may even be able to post some shots while we're there. We'll just see what we can do!

Yes. As a matter of fact, I based my list on your list, it seems quite complete. :-) I will also be bringing a sewing kit, but it will prolly only consist of needles, thread, small scissors, and safety pins.

How many of you are bringing knitting? I like the idea of having a stitch n' bitch with you ladies. :) (And I've just started a new pair of bright, pretty socks!)

Knitting is most definitely on my packing list :-D I just haven't decided which project I'll be bringing along.

I have nothing against knot-tying, but I do generally discourage boys from coming to knitting/craft circles. Girls need a chance to gossip properly, you know. :)

Wow, you do macrame? S'marchers positively bristle with unexpected talents! ;-)

Re: Canadian Smarchmoot: Oct 31 - Nov 2 2008, World Fantasy
wow, i guess i do. even funnier, you reminded me that i really DID used to macrame (my Mom was very good at it and sometimes i would do little projects while she worked on hers). and i also remember making friendship bracelets back in junior high, the ones where you knotted different colored embroidery threads together.
but, it sounds like (despite my recalled craft experience) i still lack... um, certain "attributes" that would grant me access to this event.
i guess i'll have to go do some manly things while the rest of you gossip - like chop wood, or kill large wild animals, or go shopping! ;D

You made friendship bracelets? I swear I've never seen a male do that. (Sorry, I am such a sexist sometimes!)
Sorry to kick you out of the event we haven't even planned yet. :) More likely, it'll just be carrying knitting around to all the random hang-outs, than anything official. So if you would like to carry around macrame and friendship bracelets and bond with the girls, you're more than welcome. ;)

Sure Ki, you can join me and possibly teach me some knots I don't know. *makes note on packlist to bring some wool if I still have any and embroidery floss if not* I never was any good at knitting. And I'm not terribly good at knotting either, but I do know the Turkish knot. (Makes lovely serviette rings.)

Do I sense a group project? Smarchy World Fantasy Friendship Bracelets for All! I have a small drawer full of leftover yarns from other projects that I can bring along.

I've got quite a bit of embroidery floss that I've overestimated needing. :)

Oh, Sahi, I've been meaning to ask you: does our room include a hair dryer, coffee maker, and/or iron & ironing board?

*crosses off hair dryer from list*
*adds coffee & tea to list*
(the "complimentary" coffee is never very good, and Libra will definitely want tea)

I did my shopping yesterday - got all the little travel-size stuff that I needed.
Libra, Sahi - don't forget to leave some room in your bag so you can take your costumes home!

Re: Canadian Smarchmoot: Oct 31 - Nov 2 2008, World Fantasy
I had a lot of fun shopping for travel-size toiletries. Much better shampoo than I usually get! And I was sooooo happy they had a mini-bottle of the kind of contact lens solution I use.
8 days! Gosh, those 9 months flew by. (Thank goodness!)

Re: Canadian Smarchmoot: Oct 31 - Nov 2 2008, World Fantasy
I'm guessing everybody will do mini-toiletry bottles. (Every company that is.)
My own toilet bag already had quite a few minis, but it will go in the cargo bay.
Cyan, I'll have a little space left due to handing out some costume parts of my own. :) *probably not as much as you'll have left afterwards*
