Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
Finished Brandon Sanderson's The Way of Kings.
Due to a number of shortcomins, I felt that it wasn't the great work we were told we'd get, but it's nevertheless a good read.
As far it being the next big thing in the fantasy genre, we'll have to wait and see. Compared to other opening chapters of great sagas, it's a distant last to frontrunners such as The Eye of the World, A Game of Thrones, and Gardens of the Moon.
Check out the blog for the full review. :)

Well, except for that one episode where he went into the Amazon and drank some alcoholic beverage made up of some mash one of the native women chewed up and spit out. For my money, that was grosser than almost all of the food that Andrew Zimmern has had to put in his gaping maw.

I've finished The Swarm by Frank Schätzing. Definitely an ecological thriller. I don't know how accurate the "science" of the novel was, but it was certainly interesting.
Next up is Arctic Chill by Arnuldur Indriđason.

They say the mind is the first thing to go, Rook. ;) It was in this thread from earlier this year. I thought it was hilarious, and just had to sig it.
(Seriously, it's weird listening to the XBox podcast, hearing them talk about how older listeners are the only ones likely to remember Duke Nukem, and continuing with, "By older listeners, we mean listeners in their 30's." Touche, you snotty kids. Now get offa my lawn!)
LOL!
Back on topic? I'm hoping to start reading Sarah Ash's third book in her fantasy series soon. I just keep forgetting to pick up a copy.

Did I already post that I'm reading a lot of detectives? I got tons of them from a friend of mine. Right now I'm going through the Miss Silver collection (in Dutch).

After finishing *Blue Highways*, I got through a behavior training book called *Don't Shoot the Dog* by Karen Pryor. Those were the last of the books I bought in 2009. (I'm a bit behind on my TBR pile...)
Currently reading Carl Sagan's *Cosmos*.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
I've finished Revelation by C. J. Sansom. I rather liked it.
I've decided to take a break from "grown-up" and "student" reading by dipping my toe into the St. Aegolius Academy for Orphaned Owls - Guardians of Ga'Hoole: The Capture by Kathryn Lasky. I rather like it as well.

I've finished Guardians of Ga'Hoole: The Capture by Kathryn Lasky. I enjoyed it and I can't wait to get my hands on the second book. That will happen sometime next week.
Started Twelve by Jasper Kent. Not really loving it. Don't know if it's the book or my mood. Not sure if I'm going to stick with it or put it aside for something else.

I love the Ga'hoole books! I bought them for the kids who did not read them right away so I did. Now they're more into it (the movie helped them along).
I just finished The Fall by Guillermo del Toro & the other guy. Wasn't as good as The Strain , but I am chalking it up to 2nd book of a trilogy syndrome.
Just started The Ape House by Sarah Gruen.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
I finished Twelve by Jasper Kent last night. I found the book rather dull. The bad guys weren't very interesting and neither were the good guys. And I can't decide whether the "big" reveal at the end was supposed to be a surprise or not. It wasn't. I wondered about it almost from moment one. Oh, well.
Next up is A Mighty Fortress by David Weber.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
I just finished Guardians of Ga'Hoole: The Journey (Book 2) by Kathryn Lasky. Granted I've only read two of the 15 books in the series, but I'm fairly confident in saying the movie has almost nothing to do with the books. That's not a problem for me since I didn't expect it. I liked the movie and I like the books. Win, win as far as I'm concerned.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?
I'm reading fairy tales as NaNoWriMo research. I've finally gotten to my last book (I think), which is fairy tales from the north of Germany, and half of them are written in such a horrible dialect that I could hardly read them at first. Some of it looks very much like Dutch. And a magazine about Germany in the middle ages, which actually belongs to my brother, but which I grabbed with a muttered "Perfect! I need that for NaNo."
And my driving school booklet in the hope that I'll finally get my license soon. In fact, I should be reading that instead of being here. But it's so boring!
