Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

I finished Skull Sworn. Great book. I loved the trilogy that came before it, but in some way this stand alone prequel was  better.

Next up is Absolution Gap, the final volume in the Revelation Space sequence by Alastair Reynolds.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

Hey, I think I own Norwegian by Night as an ebook, and for whatever reason, never started it.

I finally finished Otherland! Whew. I really forgot a lot in the 15+ years it's been since I read it. And by a lot, I mean pretty much all of. *** MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD *** And apparently, the giant chunk of Book 4, where they're all running around in the operating system and the world slowly start disintegrating around them, really got to me. I had a dream a week or two ago where the world was fading around me, and I had to try to get back to my friend, but because the world looked so different, I knew the only way I stood a chance was if I closed my eyes and found my way back by memory.

I have now started re-reading Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson, in anticipation of Oathbringer being released soon! I surely won't be able to start it on release day, I really doubt I'll get through books 1 & 2 in a week-ish, but hopefully I'll be able to start on Oathbringer around Thanksgiving.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

I finished Absolution Gap, which was kind of a disappointment, even though I gave it 3/5 stars on goodreads.

Next up is Turtles All the Way Down, by John Green.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

Internet and cable down all day so I had plenty of time to read. Finished The Long Way Home by Louise Penny. This one was not a murder mystery until the very end and then only incidentally to set up another death.

Added Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente to my reading rotation.

Finished The Fall of Dragons. Loved this series.

Next up is Us Against You, part 2 in a Swedish series (Bear Town, by Fredrik Backman) set in a small hockey-crazy community in the north of Sweden. The first book was _so good_.

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

It's good, but unlike The Martian this is a mystery plot on the moon :) The author shows the same fastidiousness to scientific detail as in the previous book though.

It looks like two books will be coming next year, Artificial Condition in May and Rogue Protocol in August. The dates are US release dates. I, too, am looking forward to reading more.

In personal reading, I seem to be slogging along with my reading. I'm suffering from the year end "I don't feel like reading anymore" blahs.

Yeah I saw that, all equally short! 3 books = 450 pages :) We'll see if I buy them when they're published or wait...

Hope you find something new that piques your interest!

Re: What Are You Reading Now, Hmmmmm?

I actually finished a book. Woot! Deathless by Catherynne M. Valente. Meh. Wrong mood. Wrong book.

Accidentally downloaded Winter of the Gods by Jordanna Max Brodsky so I've decided to go ahead and read it.
