Tad Williams' Message Board

Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies -- 'God damn it, you've got to be kind.'
-    Kurt Vonnegut, 1922-2007

Welcome to the message board for tadwilliams.com. All comments are welcome, whether kudos or brickbats. However, please bear in mind that Tad would like this to be a friendly, civil message board, at least in the relations between users. We reserve the right to remove postings, or even ban postings, from anyone who crosses the boundary of reasonable taste. Basically, you can argue vigorously with someone, but watch your language, okay? We have a lot of young readers as well as grown-ups, so please show them some respect.

But the main requirement here is: have fun.

DOGBLOG: Last of the Doghicans

Well, this will probably be the last Dogblog before we move over to the new board, where it may actually have a different name.  Or not.

Any which way, Dog I will remain.  Isn't there somewhere in Scandinavia where "God Dog" is how you say hello?

God Dog!  God Dog!

...which means "Aloha".

"God bless your crooked little heart."

Re: DOGBLOG: Last of the Doghicans

*LOL*

I don't think it's actually God Dog, but it probably won't be far from it. (Seeing how the Dutch version is "Goedendag".)

Which, when I try to say it out loud, comes out sounding a lot like 'Good dog!'.

There's a lesson in there somewhere...

Re: DOGBLOG: Last of the Doghicans

When I say it it is remarkably similar to Guten Tag. Which means the same thing of course. Does that mean I'm doing it right? Probably not.

Re: DOGBLOG: Last of the Doghicans

Guten Tag, does sound a bit similar. Although the a in the German is more stressed (or longer, or whatever you call it) then is the a in dag.

Re: DOGBLOG: Last of the Doghicans

Good Dog implies that our Dog is good, and not just masquerading as a Good Dog to cover up for the fact that he is just as silly as the rest of us.

Re: DOGBLOG: Last of the Doghicans

Thought you might find this interesting: Hayao Miyaki's next film is called Ponyo On a Cliff. Just like Spirited Away was his equivalent of Alice in Wonderland, this is his version of The Little Mermaid, but with the theme being "father and son".

It's about the Princess Goldfish who wants to become human, and the person who takes care of her. Something like that. What's neat about it, like all his other films, is every frame is completely handdrawn with no CGI. This time however, its all watercolor - very cool.

Re: DOGBLOG: Last of the Doghicans

October 30, 2009 for the US. June 21 2008 for Japan. Either way, it's a long way off. I know that the boy in the film is based off Miyazaki's son when he was five. They didn't have a close relationship, due to work, so I wonder how this will be shown in the movie.

That's... That's, like, forever away!

I think this is torture. To whom do I report said actions?

Re: DOGBLOG: Last of the Doghicans

Why report them at all.  Show up on his doorstep with a cowbrand and good sushi, and say, "Release your new movie sooner - it's either the cowbrand or the sushi.  Your choice."

A little harsh, but this needs harsh action.

So I've been a bit absent since I moved back home 7 days a week, I have recollections of votes or ideas for the new board, can someone remind me where we're all going to again.  I don't want to get lost again.
